  • Last Man Standing

With vividly realized characters and a breathtaking pace, Last Man Standing is another spellbinding title from David Baldacci, best selling author of Wish You Well. When the FBI Hostage Rescue Team is ambushed, it is up to sole survivor Web London to find the killer.

"Oh my - this is a bad story!"
    Overall

I have slogged through this book only to see how ludicrous the storyline would get. Web Lundon is almost impossible to believe in. When characters face danger you hope they are killed off just to not have to follow their storyline. The author goes off on long, preachy and shallow narratives over the silliest things and for no apparent reason (who cares how the pool cover works!). The narrator just makes everything more ridiculous with his over-dramatization and slooow speech. Oh my - this is the worst book I ever bought on Audible.

Almost hypnotic in its narrative drive, The March stunningly renders the countless lives swept up in the violence of a country at war with itself. The great march in E.L. Doctorow's hands becomes something more, a floating world, a nomadic consciousness, and an unforgettable reading experience with awesome relevance to our own times.

Finished this book in 2 days. Doctorow's masterfully intertwines the stories of the people affected by the most Uncivil of wars. This is Doctorow at his absolute best!
