Thank god this story is over. The long hours of redundant plot lines and wool gathering as one person walks up to say "Hi", nearly drove me crazier than I am.
Sam Tsoutsouvas helped bring all the varied charaters to life for me. He is also, for my ear, a bit hypnotic and that helped when Mr. Goodkind started to ramble.
The only reason I stuck with these books to the bitter end was to see if Mr. Goodkind would make the mistake I thought he would and he did not disappoint. After hammering away that freedom and choice is the meaning of life Richard acts out of charter and removes one mode of thought for ALL.
The only reason for the second star is because I do care about Richard, Kahlan and all the rest.
I have not written any other reviews for the other books mostly because I do not want to give Mr. Goodking any more of my energy and time.
Yes I can "read" it at work. I work in manufacturing and reading at work helps with the monotony.
Mouse. I love dogs and yes a Fu Dog is a cross between a lion and a dog (sort of) but mouse is a very cool dog.
We will rock you and when they go to get Mouse.
All Hollows eve has new meaning.
It is wonderful to have James narrating again. His ability to change his voice from character to character brings depth to the story.
I have always loved Harry's strength of resolve when understanding right from wrong. As the saying goes the road to hell is paved with good intentions and Harry is doing his best to detour as much as possible from that road.
As Mab's Knight Harry has to take his wizards ability to out think people and bring it to a level where he has to out think things that live forever. The multilayer of plots within plots and lack of information keeps him on his toes. With this book he is learning to trust that other people can handle their part leaving him (barely) time to understand the pitcher as a whole.
Jim Butcher is a very visual writer and at several times I could see and hear the story unfolding on screen. I would love to see several movies made of several of the books as long as "they" did not change Harry's personality like they did for the T.V. show. I did like the show and it is what turned me onto the books but they did change Harry too much.
It is a fun book.
Angela Dawe was able to make Agatha real.
There was alot of fleshing out of small details like how clanks move that the G.N. could not do.
Hogfather by Terry Pratchett. Both have strong females and a randomness that remind me of the Muppets.
Summon the Keeper by Tanya Huff. Again a strong female with odd bits of humor sprinkled in it. This is a more serious book nothing like the Muppets.
She is female I am male...
Adventure, Mad Science & Romance.
Any plan vere you lose your hat iz a bad plan.
For me the fun of the GN is you get to see the expressions on the secondary characters that do not have speaking lines. Like the fish that Gil rescues. Also the colors used for everybody's clothing is wonderful.
Yes. I felt there was a lack of details in how some of the people came to their decisions, mostly Nicole's thoughts.
How in order to help one person another has to fall. Something I do not agree with. Also how Fitzgerald was able to bring out some of the monotony of real life.
The least interesting for me was how long it took me to get interested in the story.
His ability to sing, speak French, and change tone for different people.
I use the word people here instead of character because Fitzgerald did create people for this book. The adage of "Write what you know" is been proven true with this book and its test of time.
In some places redundant and a bit of a shock that John Glover did the narration but he did a good job.
One of the reasons I have enjoyed this series so much is how Dresden's mind works. He has this ability to have nurturing reason for being stubborn. Reason two, how he grows and does not grow when challenged by new concepts. Just like real people. One of the hardest lessons to lean is How to let go.
This is a good intro for the rest of the book in that the author gives a detailed description of what is in the book and you get an adequate sample of his voice. I do plan on picking up this audio book.
