"A really good listen"
I enjoyed this historical mystery very much indeed and would recommend it.
The juxtaposition of current day and the time of Richard III
"A good mystery ruined by "over narration""
It is a good classic mystery ruined by the narrator over acting. I almost gave up listening several times but the story kept me going in spite of the annoying narration.
"Classic Sherlock Holmes"
Classic Sherlock Holmes--everyone knows the stories but with Derek Jacobi's performance they are fresh and entertaining. Excellent for family road trips.
"A mystery without explicit violence and vulgarity"
The story really drew me in--I enjoyed it enough to listen to it three times. It is different and I liked it.
"A whole different world and not politically correc"
My husband has been listening to this book. He says it is a whole different world. It was slow going for him at first but now that he is connected into it--he has completely tuned me out and is listening at every chance. Be warned--lots of profanity
"Classic 1930's Agatha Christie"
Quite enjoyable--the 12 separate short-story mysteries made it a good commute audio book. Hugh Fraser does an excellent job as narrator. Some of the stories were easier to figure out than others but Mr. Quin does remain a mystery.
"A Bit Dated but Still a Christie"
Narration by Hugh Fraser insures an excellent performance. The story is okay--a bit dated and romantic but still a Christie, entertaining and not vulgar.
"An Excellent Listen but made me sad"
Poignant, Classic, Unexpected
Hastings of course--the faithful, husband, father and friend. Trustworthy with a good character--not vain or coarse.
I always look first to see if Mr. Fraser is the narrator--as he never disappoints.
It made me cry--I think because i'm 60 and not 30. I understand nostalgia, regret and the hope that there still is a future with something to look forward to.
"Mere Christianity--Nothing "Mere" about it"
This is such a timely and well-reasoned discussion. I listen to it over and over and do not tire of it.
"Pratchett is always a treat"
Not my favorite Pratchett but who cares any time I listen or read his work I not only smile but think.
