The body of an elderly woman is found dismembered in a Virginia landfill. Scarpetta initially believes the clues mirror that of a serial killer she's tracked before. But upon further investigation, she discovers puzzling pox-like erruptions on the woman's body that, perhaps, point in another direction.

    Story

The story is great, as most Cornwell books, but the narrator makes me feel as though she believes I am either a small child or have an IQ under 60. She speaks VERY slowly and deliberately, pausing in odd places, and seems to think that commas need long pauses, periods longer, and chapter breaks a long dead air space. It detracts considerably from the story and is hard to listen to.

Steven D. Levitt is not a typical economist. He is a much-heralded scholar who studies the riddles of everyday life, from cheating and crime to sports and child-rearing, and whose conclusions turn the conventional wisdom on its head. Thus the new field of study contained in this audiobook: Freakonomics. Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing.

    Story

I like the "short story" type format, good for an hour or so of listening, and possible to come back to a week or more later without having lost the "story line". Very interesting, thought-provoking studies.

That said, what's with the weird little random musical interludes? I'm guessing it's to add variety to the reader's somewhat stilted style, but I find the music annoying.

Dexter Morgan is not your average serial killer. He enjoys his day job as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department... but he lives for his nighttime hobby of hunting other killers. Dexter is therefore not pleased to discover that someone is shadowing him, observĀing him, and copying his methods. Dexter is not one to tolĀerate displeasure... in fact, he has a knack for extricating himself from trouble in his own pleasurable way.

    Story

Jeff Lindsey is an excellent writer, and should stick to that. He brings little to the story in the way of character interpretation and should leave the reading to someone else. The story is good, though Dexter seems awfully dense when it comes to figuring things out. It needs more of Dexters darker side, something Lindsey does well. While I enjoy the Dexter books, I won't be getting any more that Lindsey reads.
