I have not read historial/military reports of these vital WW II battles from the Japanese perspective. This was reasonable and without too much defensiveness. I really enjoyed seeing the 'other side' and would like to read/hear more stories of battles especially written by high ranking officers of the 'other side'.
Some of the series are not as good as others, but I love them all. I especially like the books about WWII & the series about Argentina. A bit before my time, but right in line, generally, with history.
Ken McCoy was the most adventurous to me.
This one is excellent. I was very surprised at the number of voices he can use.
Loved the whole series. Just finishing the last book. I would enjoy others written by Bowen and narrated by Kellgren. I hope to find some. Loved the period of the '30's, the fictional perspective of Queen Mary and other Royals. Fiction or truth, I liked them all.
If you have the time it's a great book to listen to on a long journey. The problem with doing that is that if you don't have enough time to complete the whole book before you return home, you might have to do as we did and get two copies so we could finish it. Grisham is one of my very favorite novelists and I am loving using my spare time listening to books.
To the hearing challenged: The VA recently gave me a new set of hearing aids that are 'blue tooth' compatible. They have helped my general hearing quite a bit, and I enjoy the cell phone ringing 'in my head' so that I don't have to pick up an instrument to hear and to talk. The best feature of the new 'gadget' is that I can listen to audio books, music and sermons 'in my head'. It's better than wearing headphones without the pressure that the headphones cause around your ears and you don't have to remove or adjust your hearing aid. I am spending much more time listening to books now.
I did not care for this dramatized version of a great story. When I have the time I will listen to the unabridged version. Tolstoy is too fine an author to shorten like this. Not my cup of tea for sure.
