I felt this book was a great depiction of friendship through thick and thin and a reminder that even if you don't get catch in the act, adultery can have unanticipated negative consequences. It was a great story line as well as the voice and intonation drew me in. I could also relate with the weight issue and the desire to leave a secure job to do something she loved even though it required long hours.
When she walked in on the phone call where her lover was talking to his lover and saying that their relationship was a scam for money.
She has a rich low voice and puts the emphasis in the most appropriate places. She also changes the voice for the characters in a way that helps to differentiate between them and give them unique personalities.
If I only knew then what I know now...
I enjoy this author and the narrator.
very realistic struggle. great love story. great Christian value. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to any one who struggles with racism in themselves or others
Enjoy the book the narrator and the story line. It was easy to read and very funny. It also had a great moral story line behind it
I really enjoyed this book. It was good and easy to read. It had awesome Christian values and I loved how it turned someone who didn't find them self to be nurturing into a good alternate mother.
I enjoyed the third one the best so far. The ending was good and had me on my toes waiting for the culmination but I didn't like the year absence so close to the end of the story. This story draws me in and keeps me routing for the main character despite her flaws. Now of course I will be waiting impatiently for the next book in the series.
The title is deceptive; the violence is deplorable; the book it too long and negative.
yes, I would shy away from books by this author.
The readers and characters are excellent as with most Audible books.
There is lots of action and many people are into this type of storyline.
Perhaps the abridged version would have kept my attention better. It is rare that I don't complete a book.
I normally shy away from books about slavery because I feel they promote hatred of specific groups but I was drawn to this one because of the religious content. It was an excellent book. Every time it felt too graphic and painful to continue on, I was compelled to continue telling myself that emancipation was coming and this journey would lead there. It has opened my understanding to the real plight of slaves and the effects on family. Every African American should put this on their reading list.
This book held my attention for the entire novel. The story line was intriguing and characters were endearing. I recommend this as a enticing Christian novel.
