This book was thoroughly enjoyed by my wife and I during a driving trip from CT to FL and back. The book took us the entire journey less the last hour and an half. A very good listen.
I have read everything written by DeMille. This is the very worst. The story didn't get the least bit interesting until the end. I agree with the other review writers that the wise cracks were very annoying and pretty much ruined the book for me.
The narrator in this book makes most of the characters sound like a hillbilly family reunion. The silly verbal sound effects were hard to get through.
I have listened to or read just about all of this writers books, but found this one to be so overdone that I found myself fast forwarding a lot. The constant reminiscing by the characters was annoying. This whole story could have been told better in half the time.
I Couldn't finish this book. I found the narrators voice inflections so annoying that I had to shut it off. I am real sorry I bought the first two books right off the bat, no I have two credits wasted.
I couldn't listen to this book. For some reason I found if to be one of the most boring books I have ever downloaded. I found myself fast forwarding time and time again waiting for something interesting to listen to, finally I just stopped. I have 415 books in my Audible library, and this is only the second book I have not finished.
I have been a member of Audible for years. I hate audio books with music and sound tracks. I think Audible should put some sort of designation on the books that have music so those of use who cant stand it in a book can pass it by without spending our credits on something that is so annoying. I do like Cornwell and truly wish his books would ditch the music.
Enough with the stupid sound effect and music in audio book. I dont care how good the story is, these effects ruin it for me.
I am enjoying the story, but i wish audible carried a disclaimer with each book that includes music. I hate having to hit the FF to get through that crap. I dont ever recall opening a book and hearing music, For the life of me cant figure out how it has found it has way into audio books
I found this to be one of the slowest boring books i have downloaded in quite a few years. Maybe its just me, but I almost tossed it many times during the course of the book, and wish I had by the time it ended.
