The premise for the book was good but as the story unfolds it gets silly and downright stupid. I'm generally a fan of Dean Koontz' books but this one really struck me as frivilous and unentertaining. Read at your own risk.
I just finished reading this entire series and already devoured the Blackdagger Brotherhood series as well as the Twilight series. I have to say that I'm just as much in love with the midnight breed as I am the other vampire series I've read. It's a very nice take on vampire mythology. I'm dying to read the next book and am ready and waiting for the rest of the series to come out on audiobook. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the vampire "otherworldly" premise but I suppose that's Lara Adrian's take on it and I have to admit that it is unique. VERY happy with this series so keep it coming!
Finally the history of the immortal blood-drinker Marius is told from beginning to end. It is absolutely facinating, historically descriptive, thoroughly entertaining, and all encompassing. I loved it from beginning to end.
