Love Rickman, this series is terrific, complex and compelling, and Emma Powell's reading pulls you in fast and keeps you listening. Wish they would get the whole series!!!
Love Charlie - even though she is less grim reaper and more a sassy version of The Ghost Whisperer. Love the narrator - she does a terrific job. All of the books so far are a bit heavy on the (kind of repetitive) earth-shattering sex stuff, which is a bit much but I can deal. However, having Charlie suddenly feel scared of Reyes when he "kidnaps" her is just more than I can buy: suddenly she's all concerned that he's a "convicted murderer" when up until this point she is defending his deed as pretty much a righteous kill? Sorry, it is way too far out of character for me.
I like the author, who writes easy-going mysteries with some ghosts attached. This one is okay for a novella, but the narrator is off. His Maxie sounds a bit too Brooklyn, his Loretta sounds like she's in her nineties, and too often his reading veers off from the description.
Book pretty good though sometimes very slow. However, not happy with Audible for offering this as "first in a series" but not offering any of the other books in the series!
Love the idea behind the book (a psychic working to solve a crime.) Could have been dark or funny, and this was on the cute side. No going into the angst of what it would be like knowing when people lie to you, etc. but a nice, light read. Will see if writer developers more depth in later books. Reader occasionally was a bit too "smiley" when reading, but otherwise fit the writing well.
Lots of blood but not three-dimensional. Gave it two hours but then gave up
I would never presume that any author should change their writing because of my taste.
Hate this part. Just never got pull in, couldn't distinguish many of the characters, but not sure how much was the material.
Sorry - just fell flat for me.
Book just meanders all over the place a bit too much for my taste. Think it's the author's style - remember feeling when reading the Ladies Detective Agency that the pace was very very slooooow
Would never ask an author to change their style!
Love Davina Porter always. She's a pro.
Christie can be simplistic, but the reading on this made it soporific. Much preferred Nadia May's reading of The Secret Adversary.
