An explosive new science fiction series by New York Times best-selling author Kevin J. Anderson, Hidden Empire is the first volume in The Saga of the Seven Suns, modeled after the Star Wars and X-Files universes. Anderson has become the foremost science fiction writer of the century, bringing to life vivid characters and worlds that delight his fans across the galaxy.

"Book One Of a Great SciFi Series"
    Overall

If you love SciFi (and I don't mean Fantasy with wizards and unicorns and helpful little trolls running around and I certainly don't mean that politically correct garbage that masquerades as SciFi these days with disasters caused by global warming and the status of race relations in the 23rd century, but good old fashioned slam-bang,laser blasting, vacuum packed, space suited up and ready SciFi) you will absolutely love "The Saga of the Seven Suns". To miss this series (and still call yourself a SciFi fan) would be like missing out on Asimov's Foundation series or the Dune series or to never have read a Heinlien or seen a Star Wars film. Impossible to comprehend! The range of characters, the interweaving of story-lines, the explosive confrontations of races, the wondrous worlds of imagination are all melded together by Kevin J. Anderson in a work of literary art that is truly a masterpiece. How he keeps track of everything that he has going on is beyond me but I'm just mortal. The only thing negative I can say about these recordings is that the reader (George Guidall) makes the characters sound a little cartoonish for my taste but that could just be a personal preferance of mine. In any case it doesn't detract from the superb story.
There are three books to the series now with the forth due out sometime this summer. Start now and you'll be ready when the forth book is published. You can thank me later.

Captain Kidd has gone down in history as America's most ruthless buccaneer. However, Captain William Kidd was no career cut-throat; he was a tough, successful New York sea captain who was hired to chase pirates. Across the oceans of the world, the pirate hunter, Kidd, pursued the pirate, Culliford. One man would hang in the harbor; the other would walk away with the treasure. The Pirate Hunter is both a masterpiece of historical detective work and a page-turner.

"Even a bad reputation is better than a goofy one."

If I had been Captain Kidd, I would have made it a point to come back to earth as a spirit and haunt Mr. Zacks into throwing himself in front of a train. In his zeal to clear the name of Cpt. Kidd and reform his memory he has turned this ruthless buccaneer and blood thirsty pirate into a dimwitted, clueless and incompetent buffoon who shouldn't have been given command of a dingy, let alone a pirate ship. If I were to be remembered by posterity, I would much rather it be as the "king of the Pirates" than as one of the Three Stooges. I give this work 1 star but only because of the reader.
