Hailed as his greatest work ever, Stephen Donaldson's best-selling Gap series is rapidly attaining the status of a classic. Now, one of the most exhilarating space epics ever told comes to a shattering climax in a thrilling tale of high adventure, powerful emotion, and labryrinthine intrigue. As the conflict between humankind and the Amnion aliens heads for crisis, Morn Hyland, cyborg Angus Thermopyle, and the survivors on board the crippled starship Trumpet must return from deep space to Earth.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This series was Donaldson's best work, even better than the Covenant series. 5 stars is not enough to rate this excellent story. I would highly recommend not only this book but the entire series. The book was so good that I did an all-nighter because I COULD NOT STOP LISTENING.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Scott Brick is one of the best narrators on this site. I could listen to him read the dictionary. His performance and reading style go hand in hand with Donaldson's work, especially this series.

    Any additional comments?

I read this series years ago and I'd like to thank Audible for bringing it to audio and doing such a great job.

After centuries of stasis, the island kingdom of Charis began to defy the edicts of the Church of God Awaiting - egged on, some say, by the mysterious warrior-monk Merlin Athawes. Now, in the wars and intrigues that have cascaded from Charis's declaration of independence, the populous Republic of Siddermark is sliding into chaos.

Would you try another book from David Weber and/or Kevin T. Collins?

It seems that everyone agrees that this narrator just plain sucked. The narration of this book was SOOOOO bad that I am going to just return the book and move on to something else. How in God's name can you go from the excellent Charles Keating to THIS garbage?!?!?!

What was most disappointing about David Weber’s story?

The narrator COMPLETELY ruined this book and the series. The story is slow moving enough already. Expect better from you Mr. Weber.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin T. Collins’s performances?

    HELL No.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger. The Narration is SO bad that I can't get through the book and will have to return it. Thanks for killing the series for me.

The war between the alien hydrogues and the faeros rages, reducing suns to blackened shells - including one of the fabled seven suns of the Ildiran Empire. Instead of protecting themselves, the Ildirans engage in bloody civil war and the many factions of humanity are bitterly divided. Can mankind and Ildirans overcome their own internal fighting to face a deadly new enemy that is ready to annihilate them?

What did you like best about Scattered Suns? What did you like least?

The Narrator. He was awful and made a five star book into a three star book by his performance alone.

Would you be willing to try another one of David Colacci’s performances?

No. It does not seem as though this narrator even bothered to read or listen to the previous books. He butchers the characters names (based on how the previous narrator pronounced them), reads the book like he obviously has NO connection to the story, and reads in a boring monotone. If you can't sleep, forget Ambien, listen to this guy and take care of that problem. The voice overs were OK, but did not make up for all of his mispronunciations. For example, the compies. It was clearly stated in the earlier books that their names were two letters (E.A., NOT E-ah, G.U., NOT Goo). Not to mention all of the other butchered names (Tassia is pronounced Tah-sia, NOT Tay-sia). I certainly hope they get rid of this guy in future volumes. If the story was not so epic and good, I would have bagged this book.

Did Scattered Suns inspire you to do anything?

Yes. It inspired me to write this review because the narrator was SOOOO awful.

    Any additional comments?

PLEASE BRING BACK THE FIRST NARRATOR.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The Narrator. He was awful and made a five star book into a three star book by his performance alone.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rolinda Kett. She's flamboyant and interesting.
