"We NEED to rethink the way we make things"
I really like the concept of sustainability it is utterly important because we use brute-force on most processes. Think about electricity production using steam in nuclear & coal plants -- we use about 20% to produce the electricity and 80% of that heat get dissipated into the air and water. I think we can do better, and books like this help us open our minds to better ways of producing.
"More than just the evil lady on Glee"
I really enjoyed this book, You never realize what's behind all these stars you see on TV, unless you follow them like a fan. I follow nobody, and by chance I caught this audiobook on sale, so I grabbed it. Its a really neat story. If you are homophobic, you won't wanna touch it though. It seems to me that breaking into an acting career requires both hard work and luck.
"I managed to get through this. It was hard."
When I started listening to this, I couldn't resist thinking of a New York based Yuppie with tons of extra money. I almost gave up before the first chapter ended, but I persisted. She proceeded in a huge story about increasing her happiness. I though it was a good idea to listen, but after listening, I felt like the book was almost pointless. She used so many references to "me" and "i" that if the book were typeset, the publisher would have run out of I's:-) I think if she weren't to self-centered, she would not need a happiness project. The one positive thing about it was her section on spiritual happiness, and not actually practicing religion.
"Surprisingly Interesting!"
I have to admit, if this wasn't on sale, it would have never gotten my attention. I was pleasantly surprised by listening to this during my commute. Its somewhat of a wake-up call, about things that never seemed to get any news coverage, because many of these topics are politically incorrect, or just have no place in our current defective media.
"Points out how to reduce/avoid being manipulated"
I like his approach of using 'system 1' and 'system 2' for referring to 'parts' of the brain. This makes a lot of sense, as I've let my 'system 1' make decisions that my 'system 2' should have made. He supports his theory with tons of research and testing. I think it a great listen. I found that I did the whole book during my commute, and checked out the PDF after hearing references to it, when I was at work or at home. There were times where he referred to large lists of material, that would have been better listed in the PDF, but those were very few. Overall, I enjoyed learning more about how my brain works.
"Awesome! -- All the Swedish words pronounced!"
I read the physical book 10 years ago, and I still learned a lot from this audiobook. Palm chronicles the lives of the major people involved in ABBA, since most of there were kids. It is an enjoyable story that doesn't hide the truth about many of the situations they've encountered whether good or bad. I will most likely listen to this several times, because the content is so rich. When I originally read the book, there were many Swedish words that I guessed at the pronunciations, making them not so memorable, the audio edition changed that! Also, I was pleasantly surprised that it was updated in 2011.
