I think many of us who watch "Duck Dynasty" know that even though Phil doesn't usually have a whole lot to say, there is a lot going on with this man behind the scenes. This book confirms that. It's a really inspiring story and having completed it I feel like I have a positive role model to follow after. Great book!
Timeless advice and truly genius insights of Napoleon hill are regularly and even frequently interrupted by Mrs. Lechter. It's a lot like coming to a conference to hear Albert Einstein speak and having a high school student on stage frequently interrupt and give their knee-jerk insights.....and this happens every 5 minutes. Each time this woman speaks I am ripped out of my zone of concentration and utterly annoyed. I quit listening to this audiobook twice because of this woman, finally just powering through it because of the wisdom of Napoleon Hill. The book is ahead of its time to say the least but I would pay 3 credits to NOT have Mrs. Lechter's comments involved.
I bought the physical book in order to avoid this womans comments and THEY ARE THERE TOO! At least in the book they are in italics and therefore easy to skip.
Let me please quote my audible rantings while driving to Mrs. Lechter. SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!!! SHHHHUUUTT UPPPPP!!!!!
I can't speak highly enough about this book. It combines a highly detailed survival manual complete with tactics, specific equipment, philosophy and community into a highly entertaining story. After quickly being absorbed in a fantastic and thrilling story you realize. Wow, I'm being educated here. It's also cutting edge stuff.
The story keeps you riveted in large part because of the real plausibility of the events. Everything from how the collapse begins to initial and misguided attempts to re-start government are quite realistic.
I don't think it's possible to absorb the contents of this book in one sitting. I ended up buying the Kindle version also so that I could more easily reference the details later. I intend on listening again after I finish the sequel "The Survivors".
The narration really added a lot to the delivery of the story. I prefer this to the print version.
I was particularly impressed with the insights into the life of Navy SEALS and the details of their day-to-day life. The account of the killing of Osama Bin Laden was just a bonus.
He sounds like a convincing SEAL and has good inflection.
