Based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

Would you try another book from Walter Isaacson and/or Dylan Baker?

    Not by this reader.

    Any additional comments?

This reader sounds like he's reading The Ugly Duckling to a circle of four-year-olds. If you like being treated like a child at story time this is for you. I'm 45 minutes into the book and I can't stand any more of it. If Audible will find another narrator (Please!) I will be happy to try it again.

MacKayla Lane's life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she's your perfectly ordinary 21st-century woman. Or so she thinks...until something extraordinary happens.

"don't like the cover of this book"
    Overall

I almost skipped this audiobook because of a reviewer that suggested it should have been in the romance section. Overall, though, the book got good reviews. I decided to give it a try. Fortunately, there are only a few ridiculous sex/passion scenes to wade through. I really dislike the cover of the book because it fits right in with a romance novel. That said, I liked this story and it feels like it's the setup for even better things to come. I agree that the main character, Mac, is shallow but I thought it was a caricature of a dingy blonde and that it was really funny (I'm a blonde that can be dingy at times too!). I thought she was making fun of herself. I was actually impressed at the variety of accents that the narrator played. I agree that the main male character was kind of craggy. I also agree that Mac's voice was a bit too mature for the character as written. But I still liked the skill that the narrator showed in moving between those voices. I was always able to tell who was who. I hope the next book skips the goofy passion/sex scenes but I have the feeling I'll have to deal with a few (and I'm no prude). As long as it doesn't take over the book, I'll continue with the series.

Audible presents the multigenerational epic Some Sing, Some Cry. Created by Ntozake Shange and Ifa Bayeza, this audiobook takes listeners on a journey through Reconstruction, two world wars, the Harlem renaissance, and Vietnam to modern day America. Some Sing, Some Cry begins at the threshold of one family’s freedom. We meet Betty Mayfield, newly emancipated from Sweet Tamarind, a lush and haunted rice plantation off the Carolina coast.

This book was so good that as soon as I finished it, I thought it would be perfect to start again from the beginning. The narration is the best I've heard. The characters are deep, soulful, heartbreaking, funny and purely joyful. I could "see" the story unfold in my minds-eye as I listened because of the beautiful writing. It is a very complex story but the narrator is so skilled at differentiating the voices that it's easy to follow along. I can't recommend this book enough. My 84 year old Dad who has never listened to an audiobook is going to love this!

Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father's small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in college, was elected editor-in-chief of The Yale Law Journal, and his future has limitless potential. But Kyle has a secret, a dark one, an episode from college that he has tried to forget. The secret, though, falls into the hands of the wrong people, and Kyle is forced to take a job he doesn't want, even if it's a job most law students can only dream about....

I read JG long ago and always enjoyed his books. This one just never got going for me. In fact, (no joke) just when I thought I was at the part when the action and intrigue was really going to start...it was over! I was so surprised. That was it! It was very straightforward...none of the plot twists that I had hoped for. Maybe next time?!
