    Same as the previous reviewer, I was very disapointed in the narrator... it's hard to change after the wonderful narration that John Lee gave to Silva's previous books... However the story is very good, and maybe the narrator isn't so bad ... It just felt like a new set of characters, and I missed the old ones.

    The main character is fascinating strange but believable.

    Yes, the narrator is excellent combined with a great mystery, it's a fun book.

    How an unbelievable world is made believable by adding layers of government admin


    What does Susan Duerden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Great narrator, funny intonations that I would never have "imagined" if I read the book.


    Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes... found lots of excuses to do menial chores so I could keep listening, the house is much cleaner because of it.

    Would you listen to Heartstone again? Why?

    Absolutely, not just Hearstone, the whole series... What a wonderful way to learn about history... a great series!!!


    Who was your favorite character and why?

    Matthew Shardlake for his "misplaced" belief on justice, and also his assistant Barrat (sp?).


    What does Steven Crossley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    He bring reality to a world I wouldn't have a clue about...


    Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Just a thirst for knowledge about how people living in that era thought, lived, loved, survived etc.

    It's not a history of the world as advertised ... unless you're crazy about wood worms and Noah's Ark

    The story about the actor in the jungle, that was kind of interesting... not that I know why, the author stops and the story goes on and on about the definition of Love...

    If it wasn't for John Lee (Narrator) I would'nt even tried to to finish it ... it's a mixture of Dr Who, star treck (all generations) and LSD at their worst.
