I have been waiting for this book to be released ever since I'd read the Discovery of Witches. I was concerned, needlessly, over whether it would be as good as the first book. It was amazing! This series has a slow and methodical rhythm, similar to that of the Outlander series. I love each of the new characters Deborah introduces and the roles they play in the book. However, I was a little disappointed that the love scenes weren't very detailed, others may find that the fact this book contains no smut enjoyable. This is definitely a "pg" rated book. I don't want to ruin the story by giving details for those that are deciding to whether or not to purchase it. I will say that I love the story, flow, description and overall feel this book gives. Mystery, magic and the comfort of steady relationships give this book wonderful structure. Now I wonder how long I'll have to wait for the 3rd in the series. ;)
This story has been done in so many ways over the past few years. I'm tired of the same old same old, overly wealthy man that has a bad history, young girl that is in experienced and naive. Gag.....
This book was really nothing special to me... It didn't have fabulous writing although it could have been made better with a different narrator. No depth and the sex was mediocre, no real passion, I wasn't impressed all around. The story doesn't really go into depth and it's too similar to so many other books on the market. I didn't fast forward so that I could really give it a chance but I say skip it and go with something else.
I was in the mood of listening to a romance book with a ghost and this was just what I needed! I was very impressed with the story, scary yet hot. It doesn't have a lot of sex but just enough and the story is great! I'll be watching for more from this author!
I don't have much time to write reviews but I couldn't miss telling you how much I loved this book! It may have been helped by the talented Mr. Frangione but this seemed so much like a book by JR Ward. THe story was great! I can't wait to see where it leads us! I don't want to give anything away but if you have histories like mine don't let this great read pass you by...
OMG to tell you the truth I'm just confused. Why oh why does this book have such wonderful reviews?? This book is boring, boring and oh yea boring. I was so frustrated with the main girl! How is it possible that she is a college graduate? She needs a class in business law. I just wanted to kick her most of the time. If you like steamy romance (which this book does not have) with a great story line DO NOT waste your time or money on this book. Only one hour of the twenty held any real information 30 minutes at the first and 30 minutes at the end. Look at others in my reviews but DONT choose this one!
I resisted this book thinking that it would be so similar to "Fifty Shades of Grey" that it wouldn't hold my interest. I does flow in a similar fashion but it is a unique and interesting storyline. I was surprised to find, I liked it! It is a simple story, no real depth but what is referred to as a beach read. Difficult emotional subjects such as "cutting" and suggestions of abuse are mentioned but neither are done distastefully but instead in understandable ways. I recommend this book to those that like the fanfiction style books from the "Twilight" series. I'm not sure if that is what it is but if it is Twilight inspired it is one of the better runoff books available. Enjoy!
This book goes hand in hand with "On Dublin Street". First of all, I loved Dublin Street but this book has absolutely blown me away! I was sucked right in and didn't want to stop listening until the end. There is so many emotions that this story brings up. I realized now that I too misjudged Johanna in the first book. Her story is heartbreaking and brings out the love and strength of family, no matter how imperfect. The love scenes were powerful, passionate and perfect (yes the triple P's). The narration is amazing!! Elle Newlands voices were perfection and that accent; YES I must make it to Scotland one day!! I highly highly recommend this book! I'm so grateful that I've had a chance to listen to it and can't wait to listen again. Perfect for driving in the car, housework/gardening, or even monotonous workplaces. No joke, if you like a great romance this book is for you!!
I found this story to be a charming classic love story. The emotion and passion reminds me of Nicholas Sparks book The Notebook. The two main characters go through a journey of discovery together. Sometimes everyone needs to break away from the ordinary to discover the extraordinary. The love scenes are detailed but their are not many. Some one else claimed that this story is similar to "50 Shades of Gray" and "The Crossfire Series" but I disagree. The story is not as sexual or filled with angst but instead classic passionate love story. The narrator did a wonderful job and I was very happy with this book!
I was SO excited to see this story has finally made it into audiobook format! This is classic Maya Banks and in my opinion this series is her best work!! Holly is nervous to accept the love and sexual affection of three men (and lets face it, who wouldn't) but she quickly learns that each of them are willing to do anything to make her happy. Very sexy series with lots of hot love scenes. Don't listen if anal play or multiple partners upsets you. All others enjoy!!
I had been anxiously awaiting the arrive of this book for years! The story of love, betrayal, friendship and passion between Blaylock and Quinn has always been one of my favorites! I was not disappointed! This story was wonderful sometimes I was laughing, holding my breath, crossing my fingers or crying!! I don't want to give anything away but I will mention that the book does not entirely surround Quinn and Blay, other characters are shown in more depth and new ones introduced. The beginnings of their stories are great and I can't wait to see where they go. Hopefully Scar and Layla will be next I'm looking forward to how their relationship will be able to progress.
One warning for those that haven't kept up with the entire series, their are A LOT of characters in this series and if you haven't read/listened to all of the books you may get a bit lost at times. JR Ward has to introduce us to new characters and keep us learning about ones we know little of. It can be a little overwhelming.
Also, please do NOT listen if you have problems with homosexuality! For those that do not have a problem with homosexuality, please listen and give your love and support to the beautiful relationship of Quinn and Blaylock!!!!
