A poor woman lives far from London in a cottage with her "indolent, careless, and extravagant" son, Jack. The two have little money and are forced to sell their last possession, a cow. Jack leads the animal along the road and meets an old man who trades some magic beans for the cow. Jack’s mother is furious when she discovers he has come home with no money, and tosses the beans away. The next morning, Jack finds a beanstalk has grown to the clouds and climbs it… finally reaching a castle, high above the sky!

Would you try another book from Benjamin Tabart and Jerry Robbins and/or J. T. Turner and The Colonial Radio Players ?

    No, I would not.

Would you ever listen to anything by Benjamin Tabart and Jerry Robbins again?

    No, I would not.

Would you be willing to try another one of J. T. Turner and The Colonial Radio Players ’s performances?

    No, I would not.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Jack and the Beanstalk?

    All of it, really.

    Any additional comments?

This is an ***adaption*** of the original story. And the acting is sub-par, at best. If I could rate this more negatively, I would.

Don't get me wrong. I am a computer geek with a love for hacking, crypto and math.

But does he need to tell me about the chemical nutrients in the grass that's eaten by the sheep in the English countryside while (WWII) Waterhouse rides the train to Bletchley Park? Does he need to tell me about all the different ethnic groups in the Phillipines while (present day) Waterhouse goes to check on the Japanese gold on Avi's behalf? I could go on for ever.

This droning reminds of my Grandfather, telling me stories that would go on and on and on but never get anywhere.

Again, I loved the plot and the "spy novel" aspect of his book. But his writing style was a major turn-off for me.

I rate this item 3 stars, because of the seemingly daunting effort the creation of this book must have been.

The artifact is found seven miles below the surface of the sea and beneath 40 more feet of sand. The Navy's efforts to raise a wrecked submarine uncover it - and set in motion a scientific race to retrieve it, to discover just what it is and where it came from. Denser than any substance known to man, it has broken every drill bit they've tried on it and will not budge an inch. It resists every effort to breach it - or communicate with it.

Would you consider the audio edition of Camouflage to be better than the print version?

    Yes.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Changeling. Its ability to adapt was fascinating.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Yes.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end where both characters went into the artifact and departed for Messier 22.
