This kind of book isn't fun, like a work of fiction, but it is necessary to understand just what the book jacket claims...why our food choices matter. While some of it may seem familiar if you have listened to Michael Pollan's books, it still has enough of a different perspective to be worthwhile.
This book started out a bit slow for me, but since I enjoyed the author's other book, The Poisonwood Bible, I stuck it out. I'm glad I did. Once the story got rolling, it was a great listen. Not riveting, like a who-done-it, but thoughtful, well written, well read, and ecologically and environmentally thought provoking.
This is my first Pratchett book and I have to disagree with some other reviewers. I have never read any of the Discworld books, but did not have any trouble following this book. I loved the dry humor, the sarcastic placement of characters, and the overall wit. I think I'll have to read some of those Discworld books now.
