"Getting back to the meat and potatoes!"
Way to go! For a while I thought that the books by Laurel K. Hamilton were slipping into a rut of nothing but sex and more sex. I thoroughly enjoyed that this book, while not light on the sex, was meatier plot. I felt it was much truer to the characters we fell in love with. I hope that the next books continue in this fashion!
"Love Traviss' Soldiers"
Unknown
Traviss is able to write believable characters. These characters have their flaws, but remain likable. The characters are also not larger than life heros. They are seen to be impacted by the events they survive.
Yes! Traviss narrated the story often through the eyes of her characters. Each narration gave a slightly different image of the main cast, allowing the reader to develop their own opinions of the characters rather than being told "this is a cool character - like him."
Yes. Fortunately I have a blue tooth and and iphone. I was able to listen to it while at work filing papers.
Traviss has great talent with war stories. I will continue to read more of her work.
"Okay to Good"
This book was an enjoyable read; it gave insight into certain attitudes expressed by the characters, as well as other activities in history at the time the narration takes place. Unfortunately, I do not think that this book captures perfectly the soul of the characters. Melanie writes that she is jaded by Scarlett?s behavior when in Gone with the Wind; the author goes through great lengths to express how na?ve and unquestioning Melanie is with her trust of Scarlet and Ashley. There are also some discrepancies in the writing of this book, which include the scene where Rhett declares the affair is over.
I will not go into more detail about this, as I think it is still worth reading, however, if you are a true fan of Gone with the Wind, be forewarned.
"I have really enjoyed this book"
I have really enjoyed this audiobook. I like the lady who does the reading I think she is a very good voice actress. After reading thid book I look forward to seeing the movie and to reading more works not only by the author but by the reader.
