It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. Some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving. Then the madness descended. And after 12 minutes of chaos and violence, 80 people lay dead.

One of the best In Death books and I've read them all. The interactions between the characters are frequent and extremely enjoyable. Story line was great! As always,Susan Ericksen's presentation was excellent. Thank you Ms.Robb, wherever you are. (grin)

Here is the story of two families, branches of the Solomons, transported to an alien land. Both branches eventually grow rich and powerful. But through three generations, the families never, for one moment, relinquish their hatred for each other. This novel is also the story of Australia, from its beginnings to its coming of age as a nation.

I truly enjoyed the characters and the story in this trilogy. A tiny bit less so in book two and then book three. The killer for me was how it all ended. So abruptly that I was thrown out of my chair and through the picture window. Prepare for that and this is a great trilogy!
