"To The Manor Born Meets The Royals"
I have been a fan of British everything for as long as I can remember. I am so glad that I found this great set of books. As I read/listen to this story I find myself imagining Georgie, aka Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie being play by that great British actress Penelope Keith, from the BBC1 sitcom “To the Manor Born.” I can't wait to get into the next installment of this fantastic series. Bravo to Rhys Bowen for her wit, style and elegance in showing us that to whatever station we may find ourselves in we are all people at heart.
"Good Show"
At first I did not think I was going to enjoy this book. But within the first 15 to 20 minutes I was hooked. Alexia Tarabotti the prim and proper lady of the book handles herself with dignity and resolve. This high Class offering changes the genre completely and is anything but “Dead Common.” I find the way the author weaves 19th England with the idea of vampires and werewolves pure genius. I can’t wait to hear what Alexia is up to next…
"Great Narration"
This was an excellent book and unlike others the narrator is one of the best for this type of genre. Forsters narration puts me in mind of the Sam Spade type novel/movies which are my all time favorites and i wish he would do more. Patterson is true to form and holds the story together quite well.
"Left me hanging"
As you read this review please understand that as a whole I believe The Retrieval Artist Series is one of the best that I have found in a long time. As a long time sci-fi nut and retired police officer I found that I could relate to the characters very well. I even found myself bring up suggestions as Noel and Miles did their thing. I could not wait for the next audiobook to come out. Unfortunately for me the Recovery Man left me hanging. I really did not get a true since that the story ended. All of the bad guys were taken care of in true Kristine fashion but the bringing together of the 2 main characters toward then end could have been smoother.
"First Rate"
This is one of the best yet. I like the "seeing" through the eyes of the bad guy so to speak. The build up of how the criminal mind works and reasons is first rate.
