The author's performance was superb. She did a nice job with the voices without going over the top. In particular her voicing of Nao vs. Ruth allowed the listener to distinguish the two without being overly dramatic.
The concept of finding a diary washed up on shore and working through the life of the diarist was really fun.
Voicing of the characters
Laughed in many places. Kinda awkward sitting on a plane with headphones on and laughing out loud.
They describe it as a quest novel. Nicely juxtaposed current day with 1916-1924 events. Superbly read by Steve West. I listen to books driving to and from work. This book, I found I would steal extra moments such as while doing wood work or vacuuming around the house, just to get the extra minutes in!
The narrator just wasn't a great reader. Often times, there were pauses in a sentence that you realized changed the meaning from what was expected. Certainly they were distracting. Kind of like the sentence was spread over two pages and it took too long to turn the page and find your place. Made it hard to listen to.
Yes, but its so long and perhaps overwritten, I might go for the abridged version.
Great story that covers Theo's life and relationship to the painting. I liked the story build and the relationships developed between the characters.
Decent voices, great pacing and good emotion.
When Theo appologizes to Hobbie
I found the prose a bit extreme. Lots of adjectives! Lots of descriptive material that felt over the top.
Nice descriptive details about Florence architecture and art. Well done.
Great story and good character development, but when they add in the sound effects of guns, etc...Unnecessary.
Figuring out how the marbles worked was interesting.
Interesting story that weaves together many scientific concepts.
The entire Hunger Games Series is well done.
All are good and well formed
The start of the 75th games was well written
Although this is considered a teen's book, I found it very enjoyable
Great reading - all characters are well formed by the reader
I liked the ending... it was expected, but well done. Also, the surprise when they do get to 14.
Dialog in the book made it difficult to listen to.
