Two weeks before Christmas, Dr. Diana Duprey is found floating face-up in a small lap pool in her back yard. A medical doctor with an abortion practice, and a national figure who inspired passion and ignited tempers, she had been the target of violent threats by right-to-life activists. Her husband, Frank Thomson, a lawyer in the district attorney's office, fought bitterly with her on the morning of her murder. To reveal the nature of their argument would cost him his career, and more.

  • Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey through His Son's Meth Addiction

David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.

Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

Book and Movie Lover says: "Painful and honest account"
"All parents should listen to Beautiful Boy"
    Overall

Great book, expecially if you are addicted to drugs, alcohol, food, etc. All compulsive personalities can learn from this compasionate book.

In 1897, at the age of 50, Bram Stoker was touring manager to the actor Henry Irving and was enjoying a modest success as a journalist and writer. Publication in that year of Dracula was to bring him international and lasting fame.

    Overall

This is a well written book, almost in old English, with a polite and horrific plot. Victims of Count Dracula don't know that they are being attacked, yet can't understand why they are being depleted of all energy (blood). Only the clever minds three tenacious doctors and the trail of bodies can help Jonathan escape Dracula's fangs. Great narration and as many stars as I can give. Thanks Audible.
