After reading all the rave reviews I was really looking forward to this book. Maybe its because I don't have children, and therefore I can't relate but I got really bored with this book. Having most of the dialouge read by a "child" became really annoying as well. One particular part of the book was exciting but it doesn't last very long. In the end I was just waiting for this one to be over.

This "oral history" is the utter definition of "Inside Baseball". If you are very interested in ESPN, and or the TV/media business you'll enjoy this book. If you're only a casual fan this may no be the book for you.

The first "part" is a slow burn because it's mainly about the very early days of ESPN. Literally stuff like how they bought the satellite time and cable operator negations. Once it got to more modern times and talked about people I actually had heard of I started to enjoy it more.

While most of the tales in this book aren't anything that average people would find interesting, they're gold for fans of the Howard Stern show. Gary provides great insight into what made him the man he is today, and also gives interesting glimpses into the Stern show over the years.

This book is a great listen for anyone who is a huge fan of the NFL. It's like the show Hard Knocks, but even more in depth.

The author takes you inside the NFL unlike anyone I've ever seen. You'll be surprised to hear just what most of the players think of playing in the NFL.

I'm not your typical "The Help" reader. I'm a 29 year old male, and I absolutely loved this book. It's probably my favorite book I've listened to yet in the 3 years I've been an Audible member. This readers don't read this book, they perform it. Download it now!

This book is an amazing tale of survival. Even if you've seen the movie Alive you should still listen to this book. I thought the narrator did a great job as well. I can't really even think of anything negative to say about this book. Worth the download!

This book started off slow for me but over time it got more interesting. Hearing of the tales that inspired some of his most famous songs was insightful. Some people are complaining about how this book dealt to much with addiction, but addiction is probably the biggest issue of Clapton's life so it makes sense. The book starts to ramble on towards the end like he didn't know how to wrap it up, but overall if you're a Clapton fan I think you'll find this book entertaining.

I bought this because of being a fan of the Howard Stern show and it was the only reason I was able to finish it. The book reads like Artie talks which to some might be a good thing but I didn't think so. Second, Artie quits reading the book himself not even halfway through and has other people do it for him. This wouldn't be so bad except he somehow thought it would be funny to have Bob Levy read part of the book when it's a known fact Bob can barely read.

If you're a fan of the show I'd still recommend buying this, but if you're not then I'd pass on this one.

I bought this book because I enjoyed Steve's Born Standing Up so much. This book is obviously different because it's a work of fiction vs. a biographical tale but his style of writing is the same and it's just as good.

I was literally laughing out loud at times and I can't wait to "read" another one of Steve Martin's tales. Highly recommended!

I bought this book because I really liked Bringing Down the House, one of Ben Mezrich's other books. I think the real difference in the two is that Ben reads this book. He's definitely not the best narrator. Overall though the book is entertaining and gives some interesting insight into Japanese culture.
