When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

What did you love best about Fifty Shades of Grey?

Yes, yes, yes, the performance could have been better, & we all wish for someone else, and we all know it. And same on them for not re-narrating it from scratch.
But after reading all three books, due to being scared to death to download the audio after the horrible reviews, i finally got over it and just downloaded it. And guess what? Its not as bad as everyone is making poor Becca out to be. Its listenable-- although barely. The Anastasia character is young, innocent, and somehow the Becca reading makes the character work in a weird way. I agree, it is absolutely annoying at times, and made me cringe, but i am sure we all were the same way as 22 yr old women just falling in love-- cringe-worthy and all. So i almost could see it happening. Her Christian voice and Rodriguez-- ugh-- was even worse. They should have used someone like Xe Sands. A professional.

But all that aside, it was still worth the download.
So, do not be scared, download it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Christian because we all want to save him, shake him, kiss him, or... something...

What three words best describe Becca Battoe’s performance?

young, cringe-worthy, needs a new narrator without a doubt

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Read in one sitting, yes.
    Listen? debatable.

    Any additional comments?

Get a new narrator. Seriously, what is wrong with them!?

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

Returning to Terre d'Ange, Moirin finds the royal family broken. Wracked by unrelenting grief at the loss of his wife, Queen Jehanne, King Daniel is unable to rule. Prince Thierry, leading an expedition to explore the deadly jungles of Terra Nova, is halfway across the world. And three-year-old Desiree is a vision of her mother: tempestuous, intelligent, and fiery, but desperately lonely and a vulnerable pawn in a game of shifting political allegiances. As tensions mount, King Daniel asks that Moirin become Desirée's oath-sworn protector.

The final installment was a wonderful and exciting ride. I am sad it is over, but look forward to reading many more books from Carey in the future and hope she will revive stories set in Terre d'Ange and not give up on the wonderful world she has created.
I highly recommend the entire series. The narrator is spot on. Start at the beginning of the series if you really want the full effect!

Ayla, one of the most remarkable and beloved heroines in contemporary fiction, continues to explore the world and the people around her with curiosity, insight, and, above all, courage. As the story opens, Ayla, Jondalar, and their infant daughter, Jonayla, are living with the Zelandonii in the Ninth Cave - a shelter of stone. Ayla has been chosen as an acolyte and has embarked on the arduous task of training to become a spiritual leader.

I have read and listened to the entire Earth's Children series many times. But I could not finish Auel's final book. Not only was the writing tedious and lacking plot, but the narrator was making my ears bleed-- the voice of Ayla was annoying and cringe-worthy. The character narration and interactions were flat.
Maybe I will try to read the book instead of listen to it in order to finish the series.
