  • God’s War: Bel Dame Apocrypha, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Kameron Hurley
    • Narrated By Emily Bauer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Nyx had already been to hell. One prayer more or less wouldn't make any difference...On a ravaged, contaminated world, a centuries-old holy war rages, fought by a bloody mix of mercenaries, magicians, and conscripted soldiers. Though the origins of the war are shady and complex, there's one thing everybody agrees on - there's not a chance in hell of ending it.

Hari says: "A thought provoking rarity"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I love audio books - I've listened to over 400 books with Audible. Some books take some time to get into. Some books have a slow start. I suffered through the first half-hour of this book before I gave up on it. The beginning is slow and difficult to understand because the author does not give you much framework to place the story in. It then goes on to introduce new people, with assumed ideas and odd references. I kept thinking "whaattt??".

no, dont waste your time on this drivel.

  • Sunshine

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By Robin McKinley
    • Narrated By Laural Merlington

There are places in the world where darkness rules, where it's unwise to walk. Sunshine knew that. But there hadn't been any trouble out at the lake for years, and she needed a place to be alone for a while. Unfortunately, she wasn't alone. She never heard them coming. Of course you don't, when they're vampires.

Amazon Customer says: "An absolutely riveting, addictive tale"
    "Not worthy!"

McKinley is a seriously talented fiction writer. This is like some c- assignment she did for a high school creative writing class. It has all of the elements of a saucy, sexy blood-sucker book, but the plot is sloooooooowww and teeeeeedious. Added to this, the story should be told by a 20-year old and the narrator sounds like a 65-year-old on helium. AWFUL to listen to.

I am fairly confident that the only reason this was released was because vamp novels are all the rage. Cheap shot.

  • Charming Your Way to the Top: Hollywood's Premier P.R. Executive Shows You How to Get Ahead

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Michael Levine
    • Narrated By Lloyd James

Charm is good business. It can increase your income, boost your status, and establish and maintain your reputation. Most businesspeople don't fully understand the concept of charm. It ought to be a reflex, a conditioned response, to "turn on the charm" when dealing with customers, clients, associates, and employees, but it isn't. Charm draws customers. Charm gets noticed. But charm is only partly innate. Much of it is learned.

James says: "I want my money back"
    "Pure Drivel"

Such a ridiculous waste of time - shame on the publisher for letting this mindless rant of a self-absorbed author slip through.
