I find after a stilted beginning, this story is interesting...and shows the misapprehensions of the day....and how communications can change everything....I find myself wanting to hear more and more. I've read it as well and hearing it always brings a whole different perspective to the writing! I'm hoping we can get all three of Linda's Darcy Books into Audible!
DO NOT MISS THIS!!!! Not only are the Narrators Outstanding for Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster, if it's possible, they're even better in the performance of A Beautiful Wedding. I never want it to end. The story and pacing are excellent, and I will have to listen to Travis and Pidge again in the other books. Jamie McGuire has hit her "Sweet Spot" in her story of these two...while I've read her other books...nothing affects me or hits home with me like Travis and Pidge - and I'd love for her to write a sequel about a Travis, PIdge, their lives and perhaps what goes on with the next brother and the next...doesn't have to be a murder or huge crisis, Jamie writes real life very well. As usual with my "treasured" books, I own the ebook, hardcover and Audible - reading and listening add different dimensions and reveal different things about the same story - I Love Love. With these two, the depth of feeling is never corny, you'll feel a warmth, a glimpse of the character and heart it takes to deserve what they have. They truly become One.
I keep searching, because every once in an author surprises me. Ryan Winfield did just that. and...Janes Melody is such a book. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you will share in the pain, beauty and joy of these two. Ryan does a great job of addressing the angst surrounding older women dating younger men... it seems society may never grow up - or lose it's sexist stance. My only, only critique of this book is the rather hurried ending. They say men can't write romance! Ryan does it better, he writes real life, heartbreak and the courage to overcome these obstacles and his surrounding characters jump off the page... I own the ebook version and now the audible. I can't say enough about the value of having both versions of "treasured" books. Jane's Melody is one of my treasures. The Audible version added dimensions I thought not possible to the original book, which is beautifully written. The narrator starts out somewhat stilted, but soon finds a comfortable rhythm. I was not disappointed and I'll keep this and listen again and again over the years.
I have loved all of these books and am so glad to have them finally in Audible. From the beginning the Colters capture your heart. It was the first time I consideed reading about a menage - and the only other I found that compares is Lauren Dane's Laid Bare. Colters have dug into my psyche and I love the continuity of the story and I love reading about this family, it never seems tacky or dirty to me - I think because the love and commitment is there from the beginning. For the Colters, this is not experimentation. Each is a distinct personality and their love for each other is without question - but primarily for one woman, Holly. These brothers, Adam, Ethan and Ryan are equally appealing with distinct personalities. If you like Romance and Love, don't miss Any of the Colters!
I mean it, Falling Into You was simple but Brilliant - Nell, Kyle and Colton, all compelling, with much heartbreak and much love - to me with an ending that couldn't be improved, except to give us more - and Jasinda did that with this book - and made Becca and Jason as compelling as Nell, Kyle and Colton - are they too good to be true ?in some ways yes..but I also thought Jasinda captured real emotions, real impacts and didn't use the old "misunderstandings" separating people for weeks and time on end - without getting to the bottom of what was going on....most of what I loved about these books was the hopefulness - and the fact that these characters didn't let tragedy, conventional notions and guilt stop them from the love we all deserve and allowed them to reach for (and achieve) something more.
Don't miss this incredible series, from beginning to end. It is often compared to Outlander, but that is hard to do. It stands alone as an excellent historical romance/life journey of Nathaniel and Elizabeth and their family I loved every minute of it!
I gave this book a chance because of Jane's Melody - that book was amazing and will always stick with me. This book sat in my library for 4 months. It is serious and not a romance but a story of a very tough, very real life and experience of a man. This is narrated by the author and it works - works well. I couldn't stop listening, but was afraid at the same time what was going to happen to Trevor next. I know a couple of alcoholics and for anyone who thinks they can "just stop" think again. There are many things at play and this book is a brilliant, insightful look at that. It is gut wrenching and emotional, but I don't think you'll forget this any time soon. Well worth it! I look forward to Ryan's next books. (Pretty please think about putting Jane's Melody on Audible!!!)
I love romance, believable romance...so many have fallen short. While Gavin is so perfect that it makes you question the possibility that such a man exists..you can't help but fall madly in love with him. Sometimes Emily upsets me with her assumptions, but then you can't help but feel you would react that way yourself... and it's easier to see bad situations from the outside, than when you're in it. I have read both books and they are majorly addictive! Be ready to lose sleep when you start these books! You can't stop listening! In fact, I started listening to them again!
You thought you knew what was coming, especially from the flavor of the reviews....but Gail puts a huge twist in here that had my heart breaking, literally! Gavin and Emily seem to have it all but their world crashes! I have to have a HEA and you gave it to me! Thank you Thank you Gail for your masterful storytelling! I like both Gavin and Emily's POV's, I love your style. I won't forget Collide and Pulse and they'll remain on my Favorite's list forever!
This book and it's sequel, are "Must Reads!!!!" Where is book two in audible? Light in the Shadows! The narrator is so, so...mostly on Maggie's Dad! This book is so worth reading and listening too...I can't believe anyone, anyone is saying don't listen! This book covers the very real and sensitive issues of mental and emotional illness - and love that begins and gives hope to living with this disease. I couldn't quit listening! Maggie and Clay are are lovely couple with painful issues, Clay's bipolar and borderline personality disorders. These are not weaknesses but real issues. Maggie shows the extremely mature and selfless character to keep loving him and to try to understand Clay and help him (not as a fixer) but to realize that Clay, despite his illness Deserves to be loved. I hated the cliffhanger ending - and went to find Lost in the Shadows on Audible (But it's not there!!!!!). I read Lost in the Shadows and believe me, both are very well worth reading and listening to! You won't regret it!
I thought this was going to be another trendy book...but this story gave me the smackdown...hard! I never saw it coming. I couldn't put it down. I haven't cried this hard in a long time. But the beauty of the story is also extremely uplifting. I urge you to listen to this book. I know I'm going to check out everything Jasinda has done. I thought this was just the way it should go...and I thought events were realistic. The narrators had it perfect, I am listening to it again. I look forward to the next book that is coming out soon....and I hope that Jasinda provides us some continuity in the next story... I like it when the characters are involved throughout the series...it makes it more believable and enjoyable. My only complaint (and it is a small one) is that the ending was rather abrupt and I hope that Jasinda will continue Nell and Colt's story in books to come. I WANT MORE!!!!
Narrated and written beautifully, you'll have to listen to it to appreciate it!
