"Great story + rookie narrator = let down"
I’ve been waiting for this installment of the Safehold series. I’ve been holding on to 2 credits for a month! As soon as it popped up I down loaded. The narrator is energetic, BUT I truly wish that the producers had stayed with the same narrator as the previous installment. If nothing else, the new narrator should listen to the previous story so that the pronunciations of names, places and objects are the same as the previous 5 books. Kevin Collins did not take the time to listen to the previous books in the series. It is obvious from the first 5 minutes that he is not a fan of the series but a guy doing a job. If I had not heard the other 5 books, it would have been an acceptable or better performance. But as I have heard the other books, the performance was avoidable horrible.
One other thought, If the producers of this book let this narration out in this condition, what respect do they have to the author or to the consumers of the product?
"A hell of a story!"
Another Kim Harrison book that you won't be able to put down. It's worth the two credits.
"Sanderson does it again"
I did not know how Sanderson was going to bring back the Mistborns, but he did it. And he did it in a way that that welcomes new listeners / readers without having to go back to the original series. I strongly suggest the first series, but it is not necessary. This book is well worth the credit. I can’t wait for him to get to the next one in the series. Thank you Mr. Sanderson.
"A great listen that goes by too quickly"
If you are not familiar with David Weber's work or Honnervers, this is a great place to start. I have to warn you, once your hooked you will be hook by the great writing and the wonderful plot lines of Honnervers and the story lines.
"Can I have my credit back?"
I like Terry Goodkind’s works. Some were a little slow, but in general they are entertaining. He is a very detailed writer and he draws the listener/reader into the detailed world of his books.
That being said, I find it very had to recommend Oman Machine. I could not get into the book. I gave up part way into the second part (2 part down load). The book was just dragging on and I think he spend too much time covering past events to get new readers caught up.
The previous Richard Kahlan book, Confessor, Richard gains control of the ultimate magic. The trials and tribulations of the Oman should be trivial to a wizard who controls magic that can create worlds.
If you are new to the Goodkind universe, please start with Wizards First Rule. It’s one of those books that you will listen to again and again. I'm looking forward to the next Law of Nines book
"If only Kim Harris could write faster!"
Kim Harris’ new novel “Black Magic Sanction” hits the ground running and does not stop! This installment of Hollows series is an emotional ride. If you are thinking about starting a new series that will keep you up listening to the stories all night long, that please take a look this Kim Harris series. But be warned, once you start the first book, your monthly credits will not come quick enough! By the way, you could start with this book, she does a very good job of tucking in just enough recap, but don’t. Experience the story from the beginning.
