"The Parasol Rules!"
I don't usually go for the "steam-punk" genre but this series is really great. I waited until I had finished the series before writing my review just in case I didn't like it but I do. I thought this series was very well written and all of the characters are well rounded and engaging. Alexia, Conal and crew are wonderful. I truly enjoyed how all of the characters grew as the series progressed. I'm not going to give anything away but I really wanted Ms. Carriger to know she is doing a great job!
"Totally Wrong Reader!"
This was a great story but it was read by the wrong person! The prose of the story was written in "Olde English" vernacular but the reader didn't have an English accent. What happened to Justine Eyre, who read the short story by G.A. Aiken, in the "Supernatural" anthology? She was perfect for these dragon stories. Please get her to return as the reader before putting any more G.A. Aiken novels on audio. We have waited much too long for these wonderful stories to get on audio for them to be ruined by the wrong reader!
"Reader was not up to par!!!"
The story itself was very good and I really like the series. The reader sounded like a little girl, therefore she spoiled the story for me.
I like that Shanna and her sister found each other again.
I didn't like her performance. I think she should stick to children or very young adult books.
A more mature reader would have helped.
I'm sorry but 500 plus year old vampires should not sound like little girls! It really helps listeners when you have good and consistent reader performances. It really sucks to find a good series and have a major disappointment with the reader performance.
