This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    Children under 10

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Mark of Athena

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was really annoying, especially in the last part, he sounded too much like he was trying to imitate Leonard Nimoy.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Any additional comments?

You can skip this book entirely, it is not necessary for the Heroes of Olympus series.

  • Beautiful Redemption

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl
    • Narrated By Kevin T. Collins, Khristine Hvam

Ethan Wate has spent most of his life longing to escape the stiflingly small Southern town of Gatlin. He never thought he would meet the girl of his dreams, Lena Duchannes, who unveiled a secretive, powerful, and cursed side of Gatlin, hidden in plain sight. And he never could have expected that he would be forced to leave behind everyone and everything he cares about. So when Ethan awakes after the chilling events of the Eighteenth Moon, he has only one goal: to find a way to return to Lena and the ones he loves.

What made the experience of listening to Beautiful Redemption the most enjoyable?

Kevin T. Collins made the entire series most enjoyable, along with the sound effects.

What other book might you compare Beautiful Redemption to and why?

I have yet to find another series that compares to these books.

What does Kevin T. Collins and Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Both Kevin & Khristine brought warmth, affection and emotion to the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

During one scene where Hunter & Abraham were having their final battle with the group, I had waves of goosebumps.

    Any additional comments?

A lot of people seem to be picking on Khristine as a narrator, I actually thought she did a fantastic job. Nobody will ever compare to Kevin but believe me, listen to a couple of the narrators in the City of Bones THEY were horrid. Khristine did an amazing job.

Overall, this is now my favourite series of all time. It's too bad the movie was terrible and did a hatchet job on the first book.

  • Dream Dark: A Beautiful Creatures Story

    • UNABRIDGED (3 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl

When Link joined his best friend, Ethan Wate, on a quest through a mysterious network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, he knew the journey would be dangerous. But returning home to Gatlin, South Carolina, was just the beginning.... In this never-before-seen short story by New York Times best-selling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, listeners will witness Link's heart-racing transformation.

KathyDB says: "Awesome story, but way to short"
"Great things come in small packages"
    Any additional comments?

Even though this was a short novel, it really filled in the gaps and left me wanting more!

  • City of Bones: The Mortal Instruments, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Cassandra Clare
    • Narrated By Ari Graynor
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Teddy says: "2 Stars because it actually gets worse...."
    "Good Story, Poor Narrator"
What made the experience of listening to City of Bones the most enjoyable?

To be honest, there was no enjoyment listening to this audiobook while the book itself is really good.

What did you like best about this story?

The story itself grabbed my attention and leaves me looking forward to the following book (and the movie).

What didn’t you like about Ari Graynor’s performance?

It was TORTURE listening to the narrator, it was like listening to a depressed emo girl who was reading extremely poorly from cue cards. What were they thinking when hiring this girl? Don't they screen people first? The narration was so bad, I really don't know if I want to continue to the next book. I really don't think I could listen to that voice ever again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could never listen to this book in once sitting, it's a bit much to take in all at once.

    Any additional comments?

Normally, I'd want a refund due to the horrible narrator but I still enjoyed the book.
