The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am amazed at the imagination of the author, I loved it and of course who doesn't love Jim Dale as the reader. My only issue is I am so use to Jim Dale reading the Harry Potter books that it took my brain a bit to realize this was NOT Harry Potter. The story is wonderful I was totally lost in the story.

Winter of the World picks up right where the first book left off, as its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, Welsh - enter a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the Spanish Civil War and the great dramas of World War II, up to the explosions of the American and Soviet atomic bombs. As always with Ken Follett, the historical background is brilliantly researched and rendered, the action fast-moving, the characters rich in nuance and emotion.

I learn so much, it the best history class ever! I have to say there were some parts that I just had to force myself to get through, my heart hurt so much, the wrath the Nazi's inflicted is sickening. Its part of our history. As hard as some of it is hard to read, I am so glad I did, I have such an appreciation for what all the families went through in Europe in both WW1 and WW2! Wow, I am so tied to all the characters, they have become my family! Thank you Ken Follett!

Only days before Britain declares war on Germany, Harry Clifton, hoping to escape the consequences of long-buried family secrets, and forced to accept that his desire to marry Emma Barrington will never be fulfilled, has joined the Merchant Navy. But his ship is sunk in the Atlantic by a German Uboat, drowning almost the entire crew. An American cruise liner, the SS Kansas Star, rescues a handful of sailors, among them Harry and the third officer, an American named Tom Bradshaw.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The best book club you’ve never heard of – but will be eager to join, courtesy of a full cast of true characters. January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she's never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb....

I loved this book and the narration was wonderful with various readers. I loved all the characters and did not want the book to end! I especially love it when I learn something and through these characters I will remember. Such a creative way to write a book through letters! Makes me sad that we don't write letters anymore, reading this story made me want to pick up a pen and write to my best friend!

I kept debating on this book but finally purchased it, oh my gosh it was very cute and very entertaining and was actually disappointed when it was over!! I have not read anything by this author nor the narrator, I laughed out loud and am now convinced we do have werewolves out there! I love the town of Grundy and all the people. I'm ready to move there! Thoroughly enjoyed!
