I like the story line. The interaction of he 2 leads. There's no holding back. The conversation is very brazen.
The male voice - Bennett Ryan needs work. The narrator is awful. At least, she should try to sound like a male when reading male part. Very disappoint.
I read this book when it was The Office. I was excited for this book to officially release. I am disappointed of the narrator.
The male narrator. He did not sounds 'manly' enough for Nash or Cash.
Yes, the male narrator
This book is not as good as the first 2 books in the series. While it gave good conclusion to the whole series, the story of Nash and Marissa was not hot or steamy. In my opinion, this book fell short. It did explained a lot about Nash/Cash and their father's story.
I am glad that I did not listen bad reviews of this book. In this last installment of the series, Emma grew in to her own person. She learned to forgive herself and live/look forward to the future and not in the past. I love Evan. He has always been in love with Emma. I am glad that they worked things out. I like the fact that when I saw each other again, they took things slow and tried to work on what was wrong with their relationship instead of just dive in and get back to where they were. I agreed with other reviews that Emma's friends babied her too much. There's so much of eggshell one can walked on. All in all, this book gave me closure to this series.
WOW, what's a follow up for the Breathing series. It's so intense, heartache, turmoil, etc. I am amazed that Emma could take so much. This book explained some of the events toward the end of Reason to Breathe. Emma got away from her abusing aunt to head straight in to another abusing relationship with her mom, Rachel. Although, Rachel may not physically abused Emma, she did it mentally. Emma endured the abuse b/c she loved her mom. Again, she hid the abuse everyone including both Evan and Sara this time. I know that Emma is young and is still learning about life but for a smart girl, you would think that she learned from what happened with her aunt. I think this is where Barely Breathing drove me crazy.
Emma and Evan's relationship struggled in this book b/c Emma constantly pushing Evan away. She sought out comfort with Jonathan who was Rachel's boyfriend. This is where I felt it was a little twisted but maybe a little bit realistic? Granted Jonathan may be closer to Emma's age, he was dating her mom. He fell for Emma b/c he felt the connection because both were abused. Emma strung both Evan and Jonathan along. From someone who claimed that she loves Evan, she lied to her teeth to him. This is very hard for me to take. She constantly reached out to Jonathan. I felt that Emma turned in to a not very nice person. She took her guilt out of Jonathan. She was mean to him and was verbally abusive. It looks like the vicious cycle repeating itself. My heart broke for Evan when Emma left. Maybe it was the best decision she made by being honest.
This book was well written, full of turmoil and heartache. I look forward to Out of Breath for the conclusion of this series.
A great happy ending for Tru and Jack. I am surprise how immature Tru acted in the book. I found her unlikable and annoying at times. Her lack of trust and insecurity of Jack was distracting b/c I found myself getting very angry and annoy. Jack was great. He was the mature, loving, and responsible one in this book. I love the supporting characters and the band members were awesome. If you read The Mighty Storm, this sequel is a must read.
This book made me cried when I was reading about the abuse. It's sad to see how cruel Emma's aunt was.
This is a tear jerky and heartrending book. I couldn't believe how cruel one can be to another human being. Emma lost her father and was forced to live with her uncle and aunt b/c her mother was an alcoholic and was not able to take care of her. While she lived with her uncle, aunt and 2 little cousins, she was physically, mentally and emotionally abused by her aunt. Her uncle chose to turn a blind eye about the abused. Emma endured the abuse b/c she did not want her cousins to lose their mom. It showed that she was selfless. But by doing this, she enabled her aunt to keep doing it to her. As the book go on, I wondered how much more can Emma take. She was so strong. She did not let the abuse to get her down about life. Don't get me wrong, she felt down about life at times but she continued to get back up. In her own way to fight back, she did not let her uncle and aunt ruin her future. She did well in school and involved in many school sports and activities. I thought this was really smart of her. She realized that this was her way out.
Then came Evans. Evans was Emma's sunlight in her dark world. He slowly weed his way in to Emma's life whether she liked it or not. He gave her the reason to hope and be happy. Evans did not let Emma's securities or distrust b/c of her situation to deter him from falling in love with her. Because of her distrust and securities, Emma and Evans struggled in their relationship.
Everyone should have a Sara in her life. Sara is Emma bff. She would do anything for Emma including hiding the abuse. Sara is a spit fire who does not afraid to deal with things head on. She's the sounding board and confidant to Emma. Emma is lucky to have a friend like Sara.
This is a well written story and very sad. I hope Emma's journey will turn out well for her. I look forward to start the 2nd book.
Michael did a great job narrating/reading this book. He made the listening experience much better.
Mission impossible meets La Femme Nikita. If you like action, spy, and romance, this is a good 1st book of a series. Even though, it's a series, I think you can read it as stand alone b/c each book is base on a different agent. This book was about Grace and Gabe.
Without giving too much away, here is the gist of the story. Grace and Gabe were married to each other and worked for the CIA for a long time during undercover works. Their daughter was murdered by one of Gabe's enemy. Their marriage fell apart after that. Both left CIA. Gabe started his own agency and Grace worked as a mercenary. Gabe got Grace to join his agency and help him with a mission to save the world from being killed by a nerve agent. Through this mission, they worked out their marriage.
Is it worth a credit? Definitely.
I did not care for this book. The story has nothing special. I found the heroine is annoying. I got this book during the 3 books for 2 credits special. I wish I can return it.
This is a awesome series. Lighthearted and fun to listen to. It had an element of surprise that I did not expected. Cash and Olivia's relationship continued to growth. I love that Olivia is strong and independent. She did not let anyone pushed her around. I can't wait for the 3rd book.
Maya Banks has done it again. I love this series. I love that the women in this series were all strong and independent. They knew what they wanted and fight for it. It has action, romance and angst. Like the rest of this series, the action was hot, the romance was steamy, and angst wasn't too bad. Steele and Maren were perfect for each other. I like the reappearance of characters from the previous books in the series. I recommend this series.
This is translation from a Spanish trilogy series. All in all, the book was good and well plot out. The characters were likable. I like that the hero and heroine, Eliah and Metilda, were family oriented. There were a lot of things/events going on in this book that tied back to the plots and characters. The only thing that I had a hard time with was the names of the characters and how the Narrator read them with a heavy accent at time that I had a heard time understanding him. This is a good book and I enjoyed listening to it. I look forward to the next 2 in the series.
