This was a beautifully crafted book based on the miracle of restoration. In the weakest moments, God showed Himself strong on the characters behalf. Deeply emotional and well worth listening to again and again!
Nolan was my favorite character due to his strong moral conviction and his determination to follow through with the vision God planted in his heart as a child.
January did a great job with her narration, however, I wish she could have given the male characters their own distinct voice. I sometimes felt as she narrated the males, that they all sounded the same. I will say that she has a rather pleasant voice. She gives life to the story as her voice isn't monotone. Overall she did a fantastic job!
A MOMENT? There were several moments, and some moments that ran into the next moment. As stated above, this is a highly emotional book that really engages the reader to feel beyond themselves. You get attached to the characters and you go through all the various emotions they experience throughout the story. Karen is gifted in making her stories true to life.
This is my favorite Karen Kingsbury novel thus far. I would recommend it to any book lover, no matter their preferred genre! If it were possible to rate it above 5 stars, this girl would be doing it! :)
I would absolutely listen to Jesus Wept again. Not only was the story brilliantly written, but the narrator was fantastic! From three sentences into this audiobook, I was pulled in and didn't want to stop until it was finished.
I found myself connecting to all of the main characters in this story so it's hard to say who was my favorite. They are all very well built and could easily stand on their own. I suppose if I were forced to chose one I would have to say Lazarus was my favorite. No only does he get the most exposure, but his character was brilliant.
No I have not but I would love to hear him again. His narration truly made this audio enjoyable.
I did find myself weeping during one major scene and tearing up in several others. Overall, I was in absolute awe. As soon as you hear the prologue you will understand. The writing is absolutely breathtaking. The imagery, out of this world. Fiction or not, this story will leave you feeling like you've gotten a glimpse of eternity.
I do wish that there were more audiobooks available for Brodie and Brock Thoene's work! If they were narrated as well as this one, I would undoubtedly purchase them all.
It is a precious thing in a world full of so much compromise, to find a novel that is so true to the heart of God. The struggles of life, redemption, growth, forgiveness, and unconditional love are some of the things you will find in this novel. It is heartwarming to see love blossom in the order it was meant by God; in the midst of facing the hardships of life and learning to make the right choices without compromising no matter how difficult they may be.
Levi was my favorite character in this story because he is a shining example that a persons past does not have to define who they are. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
Eden was my favorite performed character! I love the inflections and sweet southern bell accent Therese gave to Eden's voice. Although I live in Texas and have a southern draw myself, there is no way that my mind would have created such a perfect voice for Eden!
Absolutely! I found it absolutely painful to part from. Though I wasn't able to finish it all in one sitting (as I a mother of five children and finding time is a difficult thing), I finished it in two days time and now I am listening to it again!
I will be purchasing all of Karen Witemeyer's books, and audiobooks. She has made it to my favorite author's shelf! :)
