As others, I got this book in the sale bin and took a chance. I was not disappointed. This book is written differently than typical vampire books. There is humour, love and suspense. I absolutely loved the way Iolanthe or IO talks to herself and to Nikola. There mind to mind conversations are hilarious. It is a unique spin on love and romance. There are really cute sexual references and some love scenes but it all makes you smile. I love the way the author has conversations within conversations. Iolanthe starts babbling and then interrupts her own tirade with funny sexual thoughts. If you are into erotic scenes, this will miss the mark but I think the characters are so unique that you will love it regardless. This book is number 10 in the series and I did not know it but you can read it on its own and not be lost by the story. It makes me curious as to how her other books are. If I was going to make a comparison to another book I read, it would be like the Molly Harper books. Funny, quirky but a really enjoyable read. The narrator was great. I will look for more books read by her. She had a lot of accents to produce along with Victorian speech and did not miss the mark. She brought this book to life. I am saying a definite yes to this book.
I am not one to not finish listening to a book but this one is just killing me. The narrator is so boring that I realize I have tuned out while listening. I can't seem to get beyond chapter 3 as it has not caught my interest. Honestly, it is like listening to the narrator read a Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat book. (probably dating myself). So far the only good thing is that I got this book in a BOGO deal. I am not feeling the connection between the two main characters and the story seems to jump around and does not flow well. Maybe I will try again later.
I am so glad that she finished with each character and got them all married off, except for Trey Mills and his partners. I was confused at the beginning because I felt like the first half of the book really was a repeat of the first book. It did not really have any new scenes in it. I did like how all the characters were in this book and that you got the happily ever after you wanted. However, out of all of her books this was my least favourite. I guess I was expecting more excitement. In the end I still rate this book high for the simple fact that I love these characters and anytime I can have more of them is a good time for me.
This book takes your further into the story of Lilly and JS. The book has mystery and suspense. It will take you to the reaches of your comfort level as it deals with kidnapping and to some extent rape. This is not usually the content I enjoy but for some reason I cannot put this book down. The author does an amazing job of drawing you in and although the subject matter is not comfortable she makes you hang on every word. I think it is really well written and I cannot wait to see where she takes these characters. Again my only complaint would be that the book is so short and I don't want to waist a credit on it so I buy them.
This book is so dark and has lots of twists and turns. You listen to the book and your emotions go for a roller coaster ride. I still cannot pin down Jeremy Stonehart. He is evil, yet caring. It amazes me how the author captures the turmoil in this character so well. You hang on every word and I still don't know if I want to kill him or feel empathy for him. Lilly is starting to loose it a bit in this book. Too much over thinking things is making her crazy. She cannot understand JS either. She thinks she is getting him and then he shocks her. It is not always a good shock. Little by little more of the reason for her abductions is coming to light. Anne, the house keeper is also a mystery to be solved. What is her connection to all of this? I still cannot wait for the next book. Please Scarlett Edwards, but this in one long extremely captivating book.
I still cannot decide if I want to love or hate these books. The basis of the story sets off all your alarm buttons as you should be horrified by kidnapping and torture. Yet the author draws you in and makes it all seem OK in a dysfunctional way. Jeremy Stonehart is cruel, unpredictable and you cannot seem to get a firm hold on if he is the bad guy or the good guy. He does horrible things and then he is sweet and kind and it is hard to wrap your head around him. But that is the part I like best as you cannot predict what will happen next. Lilly is just scared and confused but still maintains her strong will. You have to admire her strength and ability to keep going. The part I hate the most is that this is broken down into 2 hr books and then you wait. I don't know why authors do this I wish it was all one novel or cheaper. I won't use a credit on this type of short book but I was willing to buy it.
Tristan and Danika have suffered for so long they don’t know which way is up. I feel like this was a long time coming and wish that their suffering had turned around earlier in the book but then I guess it would be a different story. I am totally hooked on anything R.K. Lilley writes. She has a way to taking tortured souls and finding their inner strength and proving that there is someone out there for everyone. I liked that Danika became more than a babysitter and really used her brains. This gave her a little more of an edge in this book and not so much of a follower. Tristan finally gets over himself and learns that he needs to grow up. It took him long enough to figure this out. This book ends their journey together and leaves you feeling satisfied with no missing pieces.
Jimmy and Lena’s characters are so funny. I love books where the dialogue is sarcastic, funny and sexy all at the same time. This series has been a delightful surprise and I cannot wait for more. Jimmy is all kinds of messed up and Lena is a no nonsense women. She doesn't put up with his crap and gives it right back to him. I laughed out loud at some of their antic between the two of them. You still get a bunch of Mal Erickson in this book and he is so over the top that you cannot help but laugh. Although the story is not complicated and you can see the ending coming, it just makes you want to keep listening. I found myself staying up at night just to hear more of their banter. This is a love story with some sass. I highly recommend this series. It is similar to Olivia Cunnings books and I love those too. Worth the credit.
I should know better than to start a series that is only 2 hours in length. Just when it is getting good you have “To Be Continued” stuck in your face. This book’s content is dark and suspenseful. You don’t know if you love it or hate it. In the end you love it but I wish there was more. J.S. is just a bit sick yet the author writes this story in a way that you cannot hate him. You are intrigues by him and why he kidnapped Lilly. She is just a confused victim in all of this and you think Stockholm syndrome. In the end this book keeps you wanting more. I don’t understand why authors write these little stories unless it is for a money grab. You end up paying more than usual for the entire story and this is why I don’t usually buy in. However, this one intrigued me enough to break my own advice. I am not disappointed. I am hooked and will need to continue on.
I was captured by these characters after reading the Up in the Air series. I was excited to read their story. All I can say is that this book is really good but I was disappointed that you really need to get to book two and three to get any really important details to the story. This book explains how they got together and their volatile relationship. Danika and Tristan are hot and sexy together and you can really feel the chemistry. They are both young and trying to find their way. Danika has had a hard life and is still in school. Tristan is rich and almost famous and comes from a loving family. The book has happy moment and then some sad times with lots of sex throughout. I can’t wait to start the next book to learn more. The narrator does a great job creating these character gets you totally absorbed in the book.
I loved this book. I think it was the unique style of writing by this author. She has a way of making the characters come to life. This book had it all. Humour, sex and a plot. It will make you laugh, cry and just grin from ear to ear. Mal captivated me with his silly humour. You could never tell if he was joking or serious. I love that he called Anne Pumpkin. It was so cute and she hated it but in the end it stuck. Every time he says it you just grin. This is not your typical romance novel. Things just happen and honestly you just have to laugh. Although Mal comes across as stupid at times, he is just a big loveable guy that is impulsive and sexy as hell. Anne is in a whirl wind with him and ½ the time I don’t think she even knows how she got to where she is at. For some reason, this just works great. The dialogue is awesome. The scene where they are jumping on the bed is too funny. My favourite is when he starts talking to her girlie bits. It is hilarious. This was better than the first book and I cannot wait to see where all the guys are going from hear. This is a crazy, twisted, funny, sexy book that you will not be disappointed in.
