No.... not because it is bad. Kushner has a habit of writing with a sensationalist flare. I'm sure the facts are correct but he focuses on only the most dramatic parts of the story. It kinda makes everything feel like a soap opera. It can be exhausting if you have read his other works as well.
Its Will Wheaton.
If you have enjoyed any of Kushners other books this is more of the same. If you have any fond memories of doom and you want to hear the story behind it this is the book for you.
The story is good but has the flavor of a feaver dream. It is an acquired taste.
Seeing the human that was C.S. Lewis.
I'm an unabashed C.S. Lewis fan. I love his philosophy, the way he looks at the world, and I love the way his words seem to echo what I think. If you are not a C.S. Lewis fan I'm not sure how much you will get out of this book. However for people who want a more intimate look inside this wonderful authors head, and for people who are dealing with the loss of a loved one, I would highly recommend this book.
Yes .... The book was nothing special but neither was it bad. It's an Elder Scrolls book, which there are a surprising lack of in the day and age of expanded video game universes.
This is an easy read. There is nothing special here and the authors only slightly catch the feel of the Elder Scrolls world, however if you are a fan of the games it will give you more of what you like.... Elder Scrolls.
Somewhere in the middle
The use of comic book characters to help the reader understand philosophical theory.
This an interesting book to read if you like comic books and have a philosophical bent in your thinking. If one or the other of these do not interest you this is not the book for you.
Mostly..... The section about how names go in and out of fashion is a little slow
The first time I heard about the premise of this book I got offended. How can a man claim that the legalization of abortion led to a drop in the crime rate. I immediately dismissed the premise as intentionally inflammatory. After continuing to hear good things about the book I decided to check it out for myself. I found that, yes, some of what the book puts forth is disturbing and perhaps cold, but the authors realize this and try to present their data and conclusions in as non inflammatory a way as possible. It turned out to be a compelling read, and a most interesting look at how the world might actually work.
The book is good. The author does an ok job of explaining in layman's terms some the more difficult ideas. The book also delves into some of the more philosophical implications of the authors research.
