"I cant believe this got published"
The narrator was great, made a terrible, ridiculous story bearable enough to finish. The only reason I did finish it is to see if it was redeemable in any way and to be able to give a whole and honest opinion.
No. Not at all. The genre isnt the problem. Its convoluted stories trying to jump onto a popular trend in fiction.
the idea and premise of the story could of been amazing...
"A great begining to a promising series"
entertaining story, interesting characters that you can cheer for, care about, hate, fear, relate to. Fantastic magical rules and world building. Give it a go, I think you'll enjoy it!
"Harrison knows how to tell an extraordinary story!"
Best book in the series so far. I was truly taken for a ride!
Jenks! His expletives!
As with every Marguerite Gavin performance, she did a great job. I know what character is talking just by hearing her different voices for them and none are annoying or unsuited to the character. Gavin is an amazing voice talent. Ill listen to anything the woman reads!
There are several emotionally climatic moments in this book, I wont ruin it for you, just listen!
I HIGHLY recommend Kim Harrison's Hollows series and her books written under the name Dawn Cook (also available on audible)
She rocks my literary world!
"A New England version of Sookie!"
This was a fun listen. Good narrator that did the story and characters justice. If Charlaine Harris, Seanan McGuire and Kimberly Frost had a book baby it would be Tempest Rising.
Im from the Northern East coast of the US and I can tell you that Peeler paints and accurate picture of a small coastal New England town.
I cant wait to hear the next book in the series.
"Some of the best storytelling ever read/heard"
I ordered the first book in this series,Unholy Ghosts a few days ago and LOVED it. I couldnt wait the 3 days for my credits to renew to order Unholy Magic so I just payed for it. It was worth it. Stacia Kane Knows how to write a complex character that is full of flaws that you'll still cheer for and care about. It was a great story too. Stacia Kane created a dirty urban world so well I have to believe that she had her fair share of time on the streets or at least the street fringe. The main character, Chess has a drug problem, the same one I spent 13 years in and she writes the mind, thoughts and deeds of an addict with brutal truth. It was hard for me to read some parts without crying or cringing over memories that mirrored what the main character was going through. Oh and the author really knows her punk rock. This series is going to be amazing. If you like Poppy Z. Brite you'll like this. There is finally some awesome urban fantasy to read again!
"This Series is AMAZING!"
T.A. Pratt has a wonderful imagination, Ive just finished the fourth book of this series and I must say, its been one heck of a ride. Great stories, the evolution of the characters was fascinating to watch. The magical world hes created is rich in detail and so interesting! After this book, read Death Reign then Spell Games. This series is the best urban fantasy Ive read, by far.
"Nothing to read since..."
you finished Kim Harrisons latest? LOOK no further! This is your new favorite series!
Complex characters, interesting magical ideas and practices, a GREAT story with cool twists. Its hard to find good urban fantasy, there is allot of crap to swim through out there. This series is awesome.
"Wish I could find more stories like this one!"
At first, I hated the main character therefore I wasent enjoying this book so much but It really became good. The writer captures the personalities of the old norse gods perfectly and weaves a tale involving their mythology and our world. Edwina Wren reads this with perfect emotion and pace. She has a brilliant norwegian accent. If you like Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs or even Neil Gaiman or if you enjoy romance novels you'll want to hear this one. I do not like romance novels and I still loved it. Now my only problem is finding another book like this one!
