In my teenage years, I really enjoyed Asimov's Robot books. When this title appeared at Audible (and on sale!) I snatched it up. The length is perfect - listen in two evenings, after work, or in a long afternoon.

The reader does a very good job using different voices and reading meter for the characters. He does this with tone inflection, surprise, suspicion at the right places, and other narrator skills that help a beloved story come alive.

I REALLY enjoyed the narration by Jennifer Van Dyck & Jack McDevitt, Fantastic. I've listened to this story 4 times now, and recommended it to several friends. This is a very good story in audio format. If you miss a minute here and there the book has enough supporting detail so you don't get lost. The concept is excellent; very 'novel', if you pardon the pun. Pacing is really good, the future is familiar and a different, the concepts are really fun, and the SF Mystery concept is put together in a enjoyable package.

The second in the series, this story continues w/ the Incarnations and follows the pattern from A Pale Horse. APH was a bit funnier, and BAHG is a bit more science oriented. The devil is up to his usual great tricks, characters are great, science is mostly believable, and the puns are good.

Can't wait for the next in the series!

The science fiction and social manipulation in this book are great. The characters are a bit predictable, the future has nice surprises, and the control of super powerful entities is believable. As an audio book, I really didn't care for the profanity. One can easily gloss over four letter words in text, but when listening to the book they got in the way.

I bought Fourth Bear first - what a hoot! I hoped this would be as good, but found it harder to follow and not as engaging as 4B. Great introduction to Mary Mary - the character development is wonderful. Reading isn't as good as 4B either.

I bought this title because Audible said that vampire/werewolf romance/action novels are becomming more popular. This story is somewhat predictable, even though the author does try to keep you from guessing the end. I REALLY like Sookie - the main character - although I don't like some of the transformations she goes through. The story does fully stand on its own - I had no idea this is book 7 in the Sookie S. series.

I don't feel creeped out after listening - this isn't one of those type of vamp novels. It's just a good story with fair to good characters.

One nice thing - the reader does do a very good job with some of the character voices and scenes. I did feel like I was in New Orleans at points in the story.

This story is a bit hard to follow in places, and I was left wanting more at the end. There is lots of cloak and dagger sections, good action, and fair characters.

This story is amazing! I haven't read someone (ok, listened) who can take simple tales and turn them inside out while spinning a tale of suspense and intrigue quite like J.F. The story is hysterical, the characters outlandish, the plot devices aren't predictable, and the use of childhood stories very original.

This is a must for anyone who likes the Xanth novels and other light hearted fantasy / SF type novels.

It inspires me to make sure my kids learn all of the fables this story uses so that they will appreciate the story in their later years.

I think I have listened to this title at least half a dozen times.
