Funny. Entertaining. Gripping.
Made the kidlet and I giggle at lot.
The 7yo constantly asks to listen to this recording. We really enjoyed the green teeth.
I'd never heard of Riyria before, so this was my first introduction. Excellently crafted story. The freebie worked as now I want to read more.
Having known the basics of the story and not much else I embarked upon this audiobook. It was fairly well read, though some of the character voices were a little grating. Still, the talent to produce so many voices is quite remarkable.
As to the story itself - astonishing. And I admit I'm a bit of a blubbering mess as I type this, just two minutes after finishing the book. So dang affecting and uplifting. Such a horrible time and place to have lived through. It's a reminder that while there is always darkness and evil in the world, there is also goodness and light, and it is by our own choices that we brighten or darken our lives, the lives of those around us, and the world as a whole.
I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't anything this sweet and delightful. While the descriptions of Fauntleroy got a bit overwhelming - he certainly seemed some kind of paragon - it was a lovely little uplifting and kind story.
The 9-year old boy and I listened to it to and from school. Every time we arrived at our destination he said, "Noooo!" Which is a good indicator that he was enjoying the story.
The reader was absolutely excellent. A very talented voice actress that really brought the story alive.
