Though there is lots of post-apocalyptic fiction being written, pre-apocalyptic fiction is a much more rare thing and I loved the uniqueness of the concept.
This novel is full of funny, sad and poignant moments. Unfortunately I can't' think of any that wouldn't be plot spoilers, sorry.
I really find a good narrator makes a great book even better and Peter Berkot's was so good I found myself wanting to search out other books he's narrated.
If you like this one I would highly recommend Charlie Huston's Sleepless, another novel told from the point of view of a cop on a world's that's slowly coming to an end.
Will Wheaton is an amazing narrator and perfectly suited book. I am a voracious paper reader as well and for me the mark of a great audiobook is one where I feel listening enhances the experience over reading. This would have been a great book regardless but Wheaton makes it even better.
I really enjoyed all of the 1980's descriptions, I found myself wanting to download lots of 80's music and movies after listening to this.
It's hard to pin down a favorite, truly the whole book flowed so fell I can't choose.
