"Dreamdark: Silksinger worth EVERY penny!"
I purchased the 1st Black Bringer book because I had a spare credit and read the reviews. It sparked my interest, I was looking for something different, randomly typed "fairy story" in the search bar...and Black Bringer popped up. I used my spare credit, and WOW...I was actually surprised and QUITE happy. The book was captivating and the characters very well written. I hadn't had a delightful fantasy "romp" like that in a while. So enthralled was I with the first book that I didn't wait for a 'spare' credit...I spent my money on the next book right away! I was NOT dissapointed. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK. Do not get me wrong, it may say "teen" in the section, but this story is delightful for all ages. I work in a factory and listen to audio books all day long to get me through the monotony of my job. These books had me skipping through my day! They are positive, up beat, and a REALLY good adventure. Both Narrators do a MARVOLOUS job.
In Silk Singer especially there is a really emotional scene and you can ACTUALLY hear the narrators voice filled with 'tears'. The emotion is there and the acting and voices are fantastic. It stops becoming an audio book and really become an audio adventure. I recommend this book and it's predecessor for all ages! 5 Stars!
"Childhood classic brought to life"
I have listened to it many times already, I would listen to it over and over and over again!
Anita Is by far my favorite character. Not to say Granny Thompson isn't awesome too. But if you want to compare Anita to any modern character you would be hard pressed to do so. She is unique and fun.
Nicola Barber is a really talented actress. I think one of my favorite acted voiced characters would have to be Vortigan. (the cat) the meow she did was absolutely hilarious. Vortigan is a great character in the books, but brought to life by Nicola and made to be absolutely unforgettable.
I always loved this book. I loved it so much as a younger person that the school librarian actually gave me a copy to keep because I had checked it out so often. When I saw Audible had it I just had to get it! I was not disappointed. It is always great for a laugh, or just to make you feel good. The best part, you can put it down for ages and pick it up where you left off and never feel lost.
If you are a fan of the works of Hayao Miyazaki you might really enjoy this audio book. It has very much a similar flavor as Howls Moving Castle, The Borrowers, Spirited Away, Totoro, and The Cat Returns. As you listen to it you can in fact almost imagine Hayao Miyazaki, or Studio Ghibli producing it as an animated movie feature and it really isn't that far a stretch. It really does take you there.
"Surprisingly good, awesome acting."
A really interesting new twist on an old theme.
I loved the integration of old gods and deities into modern society. It was really interesting seeing this modern world with a twist of 'accepting' gods and demigods as the norm.
The performance of Holter Graham was amazing. He really gave the Minotaur life. The way he moo'd and sighed and just existed around those who would take him for granted as the main Character was great.
I think the moment that moved me the most was when the Minotaur was watching the bull fight and seeing in that the cruelty of humanity. How terrible the race of man is and yet how he longed to be one of them desired nothing more then to fit in with these heartless savages. That they wanted nothing more then to beat down and kill something stronger then themselves in a cheating manner just so they could appear to their fellows a bit more brave.
"Another Salvatore Masterpiece"
R.A.Salvatore has enchanted readers for 20 + years with his tale of a rouge Dark elf (Drizzt do'Urden and his friends. This book is no different, action packed, exciting, and filled with romance, intreague and epic battle it once more leads the reader on a merry fantastical romp through the forgotten realms. Well written, and epic as always, This book is well worth the listen and definitely one of the best YET. The orc king says a lot about racial politics, war, and how misunderstandings start terrible conflicts. If you like Drizzt this is a definite, if your looking for something new and different from other fantasy worlds this is the best!
