It took a little bit of time to get into it, but I can't stop listening. It's bad when you listen to it while running and at work! I like the fact that the series isn't repetitive like other serial romance novels. I can't wait until the next one!
This was a good listen. I thought the ending was good up to a point but didn't reinforce the boy genius paradigm.
Of course Mulch Diggins. Like the Energizer Bunny her keeps on tickin' on.
He was perfect, as always. He does consistently the voices in a way where the listener can distinguish between characters and tell their unique characteristics.
When Opal got her comeuppance.
Really great listen. Felt in an attempt to make Artemis more human, it made him dumber.
I will try the next one. If that doesn't work, I'll move on.
Yes. Doesn't do well with voice differentiation or high emotion.
Anger. This book intended on focusing on Abby and Dutch's relationship with which the author obviously had no writing experience. If this were the first book, it never would have been published. Abby was a flat out ignorant beyotch. There was no connection between her and Dutch and I couldn't understand what he saw in her. She repeatedly threw common sense out the door and had major attitude when her stupidity was pointed out to her. How can someone who's supposed to be intuitive lack so much common sense. Dave was such a nice guy and Abby totally messed him over. I'll listen to the next book but if she doesn't get a clue I'll dump this series and move on. The narrator was great but given the material, it didn't matter.
The plot was interesting. Easy to get into. I rated this 4 stars because the sex scenes derailed the story. Also, the Iron Duke was a jerk so his "you're in my bed whether you like it or not" didn't go well with me. I loved Mina. She was so cool...her heroism was just all in a day's work. I think the Kindle follow-on should have been part of the main story. I would have rated it higher.
The whole Steampunk world was very original. I liked the plot (s).
I thought she was great and made the story.
No. I wanted to fast forward through the sex scenes because it took away from the story progression. One minute you have exciting action, the next you come to a screeching halt for the sex. I don't have a problem with sex scenes but they were overly wrought and significantly slowed the pace of the story.
For me. seeing how everything was wrapped up was great.
took me a little bit to like the narration. Didn't like Jake's voice at all. Made him sound dumb. Narratorr did Southern accents poorly.
I didn't realize this was a revival of a 1986 book. I agree with other reviewer...don't waste a credit on it. There was NO C"HEMISTRY between the hero and heroine. It was just lame. This is one of those plot books where no effort was made to convince the reader to buy into the premise. The author is just cranking out another book because it's required. I like Jayne Krentz, I'll just be more careful of what I buy!
None. A waste of a credit!
This story was one of those Col Mustard did it with a knife in the library type books. I totally enjoyed it. I didn't like the narrators Peabody voice which made her sound dumb not in a positive I'm smarter than I sound way. I always envisioned Peabody as sharp but subtle. The narrator was off the mark for me.
However, I felt the author was meeting her word count with Betsy's tirades rather than actually advancing the plot. This is why I gave it a 3 for story. I still listened to this non-stop which, for me, is a good thing. I like the original Laura and didn't care for the direction the books are taking with her character. I also thought Sinclair was turning into a wimp. On the plus side, I liked the way the major issue was resolved. I hope Ms Davidson continues to bring the series back up to her earlier standards.
I listened to this one straight through. The narration was outstanding. I liked this because it was more plot centric rather than non-stop random violence. Without giving anything away, Molly has become less edgy (more of a wuss) and didn't respond the way I would have expected based on a major revelation. Her sisters were also a bit more forgiving than I would have thought. I downgraded the story to a four because of that. I still enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to the next one.
It seemed Charlie is getting more incompetent. She needs to grow up! For a PI, she's not very smart and yes, it's a wonder she's still alive. Her total naivete and self-involvement was irritating rather than endearing. If it weren't for the outstanding narration, I don't know that I would have listened to the whole thing.
I enjoyed this story although the ending was drawn out. Thought the magic concept was good, The heroine wasn't much for thinking outside of the box. Looking forward to future books.
