This is one I will listen to again.. It was so amusing and the story itself was a good one with strong lead characters.
The humor & the self awareness of the characters. Piers and Linnet know exactly who they are & what they want.
The different voices. I was reading along with the audiobook at times and realized I missed Gavan's childish voice and Linnet's. They (different voices) add so much to the story. Susan Duerden can make the characters come to life with her narration.
This book definitely made me laugh and yes, I felt sadness and horror when Linnet was ill.
I don't usually read Regency type romances, but thought I'd try this because of a review & the sale price and I am so glad I did. Very entertaining and I have already ordered another of her books.
The books & audio books are equally entertaining.
It kept me wanting more. I bought all that were available before I finished the first chapter in Trouble in Mudbug (the first book).
Helena, Helena, oh and did I say, Helena?
Sit back & get ready to laugh til you are sore!
If you love funny, witty, quirky southern folks, you will love this series. They are worth every cent & more that you spend for the books and audio books. These characters are so entertaining. (I just don't think they should have insulted Helena as much as they did. She made their lives so much more interesting!) I'd love to just sit down with author Jana DeLeon for a day and pick her brain to see how she comes up with her very funny characters & storylines. Thank you, Ms. DeLeon, for hours of enjoyment.
This book dragged and I was hoping for more hilarity like in Crazy Little Thing, but I was disappointed. I also don't care for stories where the woman is so much older than the male. Honestly, I have only stopped reading a book mid-way 4 times in a lifetime of reading, but this made the 5th time.
Wasn't funny like her first one. I was so disappointed.
The same narrator for her first Bell Harbor novel. I just didn't care for Amy McFadden's voice. It kind of sounded like she was bored.
No, not if it is a dull as The Best Medicine.
Just so disappointed. I love Tracy Brogan's writing, and maybe I would have stuck with this book if the narrator was different, but I just found myself not enjoying it at all.
In the top 20 and I have read thousands of books, but listening to this one was a rare pleasure.
I'm not sure I can compare Bewitching to any other book at this time. I just know I laughed out loud every few minutes while listening to this book and had people looking at me as though I was ready for the funny farm! The humor in this book was wonderful. Anne Johnstonbrown is the perfect narrator for this type of book. I can only hope she does the next of Jill Barnestt's books- Dreaming.
While I both listened and read along with much of the book, Anne Johnstonbrown brought the story alive with the expression she put in the text. I could actually see in my min'd eye the Duke's reactions to Joyous (Joy). I could never have read the book in the same manner and found it so entertaining. Great job, Ms. Johnstonbrown!
Oh, my goodness!
I loved this book so much that I was extremely unhappy when I looked for her next book, Dreaming, and saw it was not offered. I don't know if it is in audiobooks or if Audible.com just hasn't acquired it, but I plan to find out. These books are worth the money and some!
So, so satisfying!
Everything about this book was great! The story, the narrator, the characters, every word written by J R Ward was just as great as the first one.
Of course the birth of Little Wrath.
The King returns & the wait was worth it!
I too counted the months, weeks, days & minutes until The King was released. I don't know if Ms. Ward has more BDB in the works but I sure hope so. These characters are like family...you know them and love them and want their stories to continue. I'm glad I didn't read any reviews before reading & listening to this book and I didn't want it to end I found it so good. I happen to like all the storylines of the other characters. I'd love to see more of Zcor & Layla's story. And Trez, iAM, & Selena too.
The narrator has a good voice for this story.
Steli-chakai! She was so funny, fierce and loving toward Ellysetta & the kittens. And her disappointment that she couldn"t use humans as prey. She was funny & sweet.
Yes and she does a great job with all of them.
The biggest disappointment I had was that it never told what happened to Melliandra, Nicolene and the babies other than heading towards the mountains. Melliandra played a very large part in Shan's escape and I really wanted to read her reaction to the sun and the world above ground. I'd also liked to have known about Nicolene and her baby, Shia's son and the rest of the children born through abuse. I hope Ms. Wilson writes more about some of these minor characters. If it had told about Melliandra s & Nicolene's fate, I would have given the story 5 stars instead of 4. Also Ms. Wilson could have made the High Mage suffer more before dying! He got off too easy for all the suffering he caused!
Usual great read!
Finding Nigel dead. Total shock! Can archangels kill themselves?
Yes- all of the Brotherhood & Fallen Angel books. If anyone else performed these books, I'd be very disappointed.
Yes, but then I wanted it to go on forever too!
Each book in this series just gets better and better. The only problems I had with this story was what happened to Colin with Nigel dead and for what reason did Duke go back to Cait's house to save her from GB? I wish the reason for him returning to her house was given. Was it heavenly intervention or what? It just felt like there was more to the story that needed to be written.
When does the next book come out? I need more of the story!
I love it when there is humor in a story and there was plenty in this one. The narrator made it even more humorous.
When Drustan was locked in the garderobe & finally settled down to listen to Gwen.
I really loved Gwen. She was so tenacious!
When Silvan and Nell finally came together.
All of the books are good, but this one really entertained me and I know I'll be listening to it again. Phil Gigante is one of my favorite narrators and he made this book so enjoyable. You forget it is a man doing the parts of the females. I can't say enough about how much I enjoy his narrations!
I listen to a great many audio books and on a scale of 1-10 this would rank about a 4 1/2 only because the narrator just didn't pull you into the story. When reading the heroes lines, it sounded very corny at times. This narrator would be great for a book that is written from a female character's point of view, but definitely not a male's- especially an alpha male.
Cole, because he is the lost one until he meets Jessa.
A male narrator! There are a lot of great ones out there and I really wished one had been used.
Yes, I had an extreme reaction- disappointment! I liked the story, just not the way it was delivered. I like Shayla Black's books but this one could have been narrated so much better.
Please use a male narrator for any other books that have strong male characters. Serena Daniels is a good narrator but I think she'd be better sticking to just female characters. I listened to this book before the 1st book in the series and now I'm not so sure I want to buy and listen to the 1st book since it is narrated by the same person.
The wonderful wit. I laughed constantly.
Definitely the characters. They can be so quirky. Mo is hilarious with her hippie parents.
Can I say all of them? No? Well, I guess I loved Cooper coming in to save the day in the end.and Mo learning she was pregnant and didn't fool anyone by keeping it secret and the love scenes and.....well I said all the scenes were my favorite.
I want more of the werewolves of Alaska and more wonderful stories. And DON'T let anyone but Amanda Ronconi narrate! She is the best I have ever heard because she becomes the characters & takes you there. I can picture them so well in my mind while listening to the book. For me that is the ultimate compliment I can give a narrator.
A good story. But the narrator made the hero sound like a pervert. It was very difficult for me to continue listening to the book. The narrator has a decent voice, but his hero's accent and gravely voice made the hero sound like someone extremely ancient NOT sexy or desirable as I am sure the author meant for him to be.
I feel like this book is an extension of the Scarletti Curse.
No!! Not if he continues to make the hero sound like he is 200 years old!
Redo the audiobook with one of the other narrators to give the hero a better image through his voice. At least make him sound younger, please!
