It all begins with a painting called Guilt. Eve Duncan’s daughter, Jane, has no idea why she painted the portrait of the chilling face that now hangs in a Paris gallery. But the members of a cult that dates back to the time of Christ know both the face and the significance behind it. They believe that Jane must die – when the moment is right, and not an instant before she leads them to an ancient treasure whose value and power are beyond price.

This was a very good read! I exspecially liked the scottish characters and the way their questionable backgrounds played in the story. Jane was a bit overbearing and made to sound too stubborn. At times I felt compelled to fast forward through some of her dialogue, because I couldn't believe a woman could be so stupid as to want to see grisly murder victims. It is still worth the read.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone who doesn't mind listening to a wondering, disorganized, hard to follow novel filled with pointless rambling and no distinctive plot.

Would you ever listen to anything by Charles Martin again?

    No

Would you be willing to try another one of Andrew Peterson’s performances?

No. He fails to provide each character a distinctive voice and persona, basically everyone sounds the same. His voice inflection is none existent and his monotone drone makes the book very boring to listen to. I could not finish the book.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Chasing Fireflies?

Tommy. What exactly does she have to do with the alleged plot about finding a young boys story? It might have been more interesting if the focus was more on the boy and his history rather than Chase (Seth???) and Tommy's past and present situation.

Anti-Terrorist Task Force agent John Corey and his wife, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, have been posted overseas to Sana'a, Yemen - one of the most dangerous places in the Middle East. While there, they will be working with a small team to track down one of the masterminds behind the USS Cole bombing: a high-ranking Al Qaeda operative known as The Panther. Ruthless and elusive, he's wanted for multiple terrorist acts and murders - and the U.S. government is determined to bring him down, no matter the cost.

What would have made The Panther better?

The usual Corey sarcasm and humor was over the top. It took away from his charming wit. Also, there was too much arrogance in his character this time.

Would you ever listen to anything by Nelson DeMille again?

    Of course.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

    John Corey

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disgust and disappointment

    Any additional comments?

The story line did not make sense and painted the CIA as no better than the very terrorists they have been protecting US citizens from. There is realism, then there is ridiculous and unrealistic. This book fell in line with the latter.

    What disappointed you about Eona?

This book was nothing like book one which set up a great beginning to an intriguing story.

What was most disappointing about Alison Goodman’s story?

The whole focus of this story seemed to be the passionate love blossoming between Eona and the Emperor. If I wanted to read a romance novel, I would have purchased one.

What about Nancy Wu’s performance did you like?

She is a wonderful narrator and would shine with a better novel more suited to her obvious talent.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Eona?

Everything that had to do with Eona and the emperors sexual desires.

    Any additional comments?

If you are going to write a follow-on novel in a series, make sure you maintain a fluid flow with the story line. This novel barely touched on the Dragon-eye persona and focused more on the romance and desire of two characters and threw in the repulsive desires of a villan for good measure. I will not purchase another book from this author.

What did you love best about Split Second?

The pace. Steady without excessive nonsense

Would you be willing to try another book from Alex Kava? Why or why not?

No. After listening to 4 stories about an irresponsible, danger prone FBI agent who gets shot do to bad situational awareness and irresponsible decisions, I don't think I need too waste any more time. It seems to be her theme and each book from this point on is more than likely the same old thing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was more annoyed than anything. Its highly unlikely that an FBI BSU agent would engage in the activities this one did.

He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. Unraveling the madness behind L.A.’s most baffling and brutal homicides is what sleuthing psychologist Alex Delaware does best. And putting the good doctor through his thrilling paces is what mystery fiction’s #1 bestselling master of psychological suspense Jonathan Kellerman does with incomparable brilliance. Kellerman’s universally acclaimed novels blend the addictive rhythms of the classic police procedural with chilling glimpses into the darkest depths of the human condition. For the compelling proof, look no further than Victims....

Unconfirmed accounts of a group of Araluen warriors - tales of adventure, battle, and triumph over evil - have spread for centuries throughout the known world. Most notable is a clan shrouded in mystery, phantom warriors known as the Rangers. Two names pass the lips of every storyteller: Halt, and his apprentice, Will. They and their comrades in arms are said to have traveled throughout the kingdom and beyond its borders, protecting those who needed it most.

Once again Flanagan fills in the gaps quite nicely! However, once again Keating does a great job at ruining the listening enjoyment with his inability to give the characters distinctive voices that compliment their persona. I've decided to by the paper books from now on instead of purchasing the audible version if read be Keating.

The renegade outlaw group known as the Outsiders may have been chased from Clonmel, but not before killing Halt's only brother. Now Rangers Halt and Will, along with the young warrior Horace, are in pursuit. The Outsiders have done an effective job of dividing the kingdom into factions and are looking to overtake Araluen. It will take every bit of skill and cunning for the Rangers to survive. Some may not be so lucky.

Flanagan continues doing a great job at bringing the Rangers story to life, however he might consider getting a better narrator. Keating lacks the skill in making each character distinctive. All the voices sound the same and the pitch of his voice never changes. Halt should be a low, level voice of reason and confidence, but Keating makes him sound like a questioning naive youngster. I was very disappointed when I first started listening to the story but hung in there because I enjoy Flanagan's excellent work.
