"It's Alynwick!!! Not Alyck....ugh!!!"
Given that this is the third book in a series in which the main characters played pivotal roles in prior books, the mispronunciation of the main character's name is extremely distracting! While I usually enjoy books narrated by Ms. Stern, this effectively ruined what would have been a very good ending (?) to this series.
The story has many twists and turns and for the most part flows fairly quickly. This author never disappoints and Alynwick is one of my favorite characters-probably because of all of his flaws. As long as the name change/mispronunciation doesn't bug you, it's worth the credit.
"Bring on Book 2!!!!"
After listening to a couple of the Sweet series I wasn't sure what to expect! It is a very typical historical romance-misunderstood maiden/laird of the castle. This was a very sweet (no pun intended) story that flows fairly well and moves quickly. While it seemed a bit implausible to believe that she could have kept her secret from her family for three years but her husband catches on almost right away, it didn't affect the overall story for me (it is fantasy, right?). I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
