"If you are a fan of Jodi Picoult"
If you are a fan of Jodi Picoult, you are going to love this tightly knit drama.
What could be more terrifying than a gunman in a school!
Told from the viewpoints of the children, their families, teachers and the police, this story is a compelling account of the events that unfolded on this horrific day.
Heather Gudenkauf had me captivated from the start and it is easy to see why I love her novels.
"Unfinished Endings!!!!!"
i was really hoping that this was going to start where the Giver ended. the problem i have with Lowry is Unfinished Endings!!!!!
"A Vacation House not Worth Visiting"
I chose this book because I really felt that The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was excellent. I was excited to see Mark Haddon had written another book, but this was a disappointment to me.
Is it just me???? I have had a very difficult time keeping track of who is who in this rambling, somewhat disjointed story~~ I don't mind a challenging book but I find it tiresome and tedious trying to keep in my memory which character is which...maybe there is just a few too many characters....
"google maps meets Rain Man"
Thomas is a mentally disturbed person diagnosed with a strange type of schizophrenia. He stays glued to three computer screens in his room, "traveling" all over the world memorizing streets and places using a Web site on the computer. Thomas can come off as being really annoying, but that's just a part of that type of illness and the brilliance with which Barclay has conveyed. Thomas sees in an apartment window on a street in NY while he is scanning the area using a Web sit, What Thomas sees disturbing, very disturbing. Thomas insists he witnessed a homicide over the web
Thomas's brother Ray has come to stay with him to help get things in order after the alleged accidental death of their father. a task that he is sorely prepared to undertake. The job is further complicated by the fact that Thomas insists that he is employed by the CIA and listening to his intricate and increasingly paranoid theories. Ray soon realizes he and his brother have stumbled onto a deadly conspiracy. hey both soon learn that getting involved was huge mistake and now their lives are at stake.
"The story is great! I highly recommend the actual"
Very interesting listen, however, for me at times the long descriptions filled with poetic images got in the way of the story. as far as the audio book, His voice drones on and on making what should be an exciting story seem very tedious. I don't find it a good fit for a book that focuses mainly around two young boys.
"sex drugs and rocky horror picture show!!!"
The Perks of this Novel, My Best Friend, Charlie.
The book travels through the life of Charley, a high school student, who encounters just about everything that could happen to a confused high schooler.he is an innocent child and soon exploors the world of sex drugs and rock and roll. every thought you could possibly have is in this book. This book takes you back to your days as a high school freshman. It reminds you about love, loss, and recoverry. Chobosky shows you life in the eyes of Charlie. Through his journey from the shy freshman to someone who has changed and made new frirends. This is a book you can read over and over again, and find something that you didnt know before. I highly recommend this book, it's amazing!
"doing the right thing"
I felt there would be a lot of mixed feelings and internal strife present in the characters and the reader in this book and it did not disappoint. Would recommend this for sure! Very nice tale of a family faced with hard decisions and how if the wrong decision is made how it affects others. could have made for a more happyer ending but not everything in life works thats
"As a fan of Lisa Genova's"
yes theirs a lot of people that can relate to this book
house rules
soft voice to a tender topic
if you want to read a great novel that involves neurological disorders who better to write them but a neurologist themselves. I have read every book by Lisa Genova and with every book her writing improves. The author gives a voice to those that can not speak for themselves.
As a fan of Lisa Genova's Still Alice, a moving novel about a woman with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. I was anxious to see how she tackled the topic of Autism in, Love Anthony. despite the fact that I didn't fall as deeply in love with it as I did with still alice. it was still a wonderful book, this book did talk about autism but it was mostly about a lesson in life and how to deal with curve balls thrown at you.
This book gives a startling and beautiful picture of the details of living with an autistic boy, and also stretches and deepens the understanding of its meaning
"The Moral Fantasy"
yes
I suppose it makes you think about the meaning of life - if you didn‘t already know. The idea of the book sounded very interesting to me, but after reading it, I found that, although it was interesting, it wasn't my kind of book. It was definitely not a waste of time and it did keep my interest to see how it ended, but it's not a book that I would ever read twice.
"stop complaining!!!"
yes and i did
the red house
great, and funny
no it take a little more listening to figure out out the characters
this also goes for the host by Stephanie meyers. STOP ASSUMING that their next book is suppose to be like the last. Deal with it.
Good for JK to branch out and do something different.
If you go in expecting a masterpiece, then you will most likely be disappointed. Just start it with an open mind and be prepared to enter a world full of entertaining people. It's a funny read. I loved the character development.
This certainly must capture modern life in a small British community. I am hardly an expert on that, but, lets face it, J.K. Rowlings certainly is. It matters little, though, where the story is set. Needless to say there is many secrets and scandals hidden in this ordinary town. There is sexually explicit parts in the book , and violence, and sexual violence towards children, drug abuse, self harm etc etc.
