I have listened to this twice since purchasing it. It's one that I am sure I will return to again. It's genuinely atmospheric with a hint of gothic.
The Thirtieth Tale. Anything by Kate Morton.
Her voice is even and fluctuates well with the rise and fall of the story
Yes, I could have listened straight through
A great ghost story with some real scary moments. Loved it.
The voice was perfect, it moved with the action well.
The ending, the twist, everything.
No, I wouldn't
Very little real information, but rather personal ideas.
None that I could see, but I could not finish it.
The story is amazingly creepy, with a true villain
Anything by the same Author.
No, this was my first but I would gladly listen again.
One of my favourite ghost story authors.
The narrator is beyond annoying. Her voice is shrill most of the time.
I couldn't concentrate on the story at all. The voice was distracting.
I can only imagine another narrator would have improved the telling. It's hard to know where to start in fixing this.
Anger, frustration and annoyance. I had to turn it off.
It's a shame that the constant yelling in this book and the narration has taken away from what I think might have been a good story, but I'll never know because I can't get past the terrible job.
This is a good story, but the chase is so thin that it gets annoying along with the terrible try at Britishisms. The language is just off, as if the writer is using dialogue she thinks is common but is far from it.
Ok, if you have nothing better to do on a wet weekend.
I can not recommend this enough. My only complaint was that it finished. I eagerly await anything more from this talented Author.
The gothic beauty, the mystery and the prose is all perfectly aligned to bring you hours of delight. You won't be able to turn this one off.
I loved this story, and while it is a little slow to start, it's beautiful narration and detail makes it worth it.
I highly recommend it.
This is an enjoyable listen and the story flows well if somewhat long winded in places. It was interesting enough to keep me going and the end was excellent. The different character perspectives was very well done.
The quality however took away from the number of stars. It misses several words every few minutes during the narration of one particular character and this is annoying. Otherwise I would have given it 4 stars.
