For over three decades Diana Palmer has wowed Romance fans with passionate tales from America’s heartland. In Tough to Tame, listeners are transported to Jacobsville, Texas, where veterinarian Dr. Bentley Rydel works hard and has little time for the opposite sex. Into his world comes Cappie Drake, an assistant at the clinic where he works—and the woman who’s going to tame this hot-tempered Texan if it’s the last thing she does.

    Story

I've been listening to some of Diana Palmer's other books because I was in the mood for the Cowboy stories! Although I DID read the publishers info & reviews, the cover of this book shows a Cowboy with his Horse on the backround of prairie land!! It leads you to believe it is another one of the "Old Western" type stories, however, it's actually a modern story with cars & airplanes!!! Since I wasn't prepared for the modern story, it took me awhile to adjust & accept the situation...having said that, the book was actually pretty good and had good characters with an interesting plot. If the cover had been different & I had been prepared, then I'm sure I would have liked it right from the start. Hopefully, others will read this and be more prepared than I was! Actually, Jack Garrett, the narrator, has a deep sexy voice & is wonderful to listen to! So I'm sure others will enjoy it!

Listeners flock to USA Today and New York Times best-selling author Jodi Thomas’ Texas romances. Here a rugged cowboy finds his hard heart softened by a desperate woman on the run. Happy to keep his head down and tend to his ranch, Teagen McMurray is certainly not looking for love. But then Jessie Barton—wife of Teagen’s bookseller friend Eli—and her three young daughters arrive on the scene seeking shelter.

    Story

Story & plot pulled me in, but after a little while I was distracted by the narration! The narrator's voice is pleasant as long as she's reading the women's parts. As she switches to men's & childrens voices they sound like crotchety, old men! However, Jodi Thomas' writing had me & I had to overcome & ignore the things I didn't like, so I could find out the details! If you can do this, then you'll be able to appreciate the story. If not, then don't waste your time & money on the audio...read the book! The story would be so much better to listen to, if it had a top notch narrator! Maybe someday the audio can be redone!!!

Jack Lester has to find a bride...But where can he find the perfect woman? She has to be attractive, kind, a good conversationalist...and most important, she has to accept him as he is: devilishly handsome, charming and, as far as anyone knows, poor as a church mouse! If London society discovers his hidden wealth, he'll never find the right wife.

    "Good story, but distracting narration!"
    Overall

As long as the plot & story is decent, I usually don't have a problem with the narrator, and I especially like Stephanie Laurens' romances. However, this audio was quite different! Jasicki has a nice voice for a woman, but her male voices are very irritating! I hung in there for the whole first half because the story was intriguing and I really wanted to follow the relationship between the main characters. However, Jack's voice was so unmanly that I was distracted from the romance and had to abandon it!!! That's very frustrating, since that's the whole reason why I bought the audio version! It would be much better with another narrator.

No one who roamed the steep green mountains and red-rock canyons of Utah Territory was safe from El Cascabel and his renegade warriors - not Janna Wayland, not the wild stallion Lucifer - not even Ty MacKenzie, the stranger who had come for the stallion, and stayed to capture Janna's heart. Now all three must join forces and make their escape, or die trying.

    Overall

I agree with Betty! This book has everything a romantic could want. I just wish Elizabeth Lowell had continued this series with the characters (MacKenzies) that are listed in this book...I was waiting to read about Ty's brothers: Logan & Silver, Duncan, Case and also Bluewolf & Cassie's story. I hope Elizabeth will return to continue the series, as she has with other groups/trilogies.

Laural Merlington, did a great job reading this book! I think she had the perfect, deep, sexy sound for the characters, men & women! The intonation or cadence of her voice was very realistic & vivid for this genre. I could "see" the scenes happening. A lot of female narrators don't find the necessity to deepen/change their voice when reading male parts, however, they do the story and their readers an injustice. Laural, however, makes the story come to life from the written words. Isn't that the whole reason we like audio-books?
