  • The Jesus I Never Knew

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 42 mins)
    • By Philip Yancey
    • Narrated By Bill Richards
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Best selling author and respected journalist Philip Yancey takes a deeper look at the Christ of the Gospels. From the manger in Bethlehem to the cross in Jerusalem, Yancey reveals a complex character, a disturbing and exhilarating Jesus who aims to transform your life and faith radically. The Jesus I Never Knew is a piercingly honest interpretation of the life and character of Jesus of Nazareth by a writer unafraid to tackle Christianity's most difficult issues in order to enhance our perspective.

    "Good work"

I appreciate this work, for boldly confronting the bland version of Jesus Christ that many churches present. Passionate, unpredictable and full of love - this is the Christ I want to know! My only complaint is, sadly, the narrator's slow delivery, that kind of drags along. Odd, considering the books' content.

  • Pointing from the Grave: A True Story of Murder and DNA

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Samantha Weinberg
    • Narrated By Nadia May

Helena Greenwood, a doctor with a Ph.D. in chemical pathology, was working in biotechnology when she was the victim of sexual assault. She survived and was scheduled to testify against her attacker until she was found brutally murdered in her garden. Everyone believed the killer was her past attacker; but there was not enough evidence to convict him, until ten years later when a local District Attorney working the "cold cases" used Helena's own DNA research to finally bring her killer to justice.

"Can an audio book be a"

I enjoyed this audio book, and didn't want to "put it down". Good work! I probably would not recommended this book for those who get bored with scientific discussions, however I felt the science was discussed in a very understandable way, and was appropriate to the story.

  • Charlemagne

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 37 mins)
    • By Richard Winston
    • Narrated By Charlton Griffin

Charlemagne was easily one of the most fascinating figures in Western civilization, as well as the most heroic and romantic. The 47 years of his reign marked some of the most significant and far reaching events of the Middle Ages. Undoubtedly, it was his enlightened vision for Europe that resulted in the Carolingian Renaissance, a period of cultural flowering that never really ceased to develop, and which led in a straight line directly to that period of astonishing achievement we now call the High Gothic.

    Frank says: "A wonderful biography"
    "Educational material"

I learned a great deal from this audio book, but felt more like I was taking a class, rather than learning for the pure enjoyment of it. I also struggled with terminology, not being familiar with that period or the world map during that time. Still, I am glad I worked my way through it, and gained an even stronger appreciation of King Charles.
