He is a good man, a brilliant corporate executive, an honest, handsome family man admired by men and desired by women. But a lifetime ago Ben Tyson was a lieutenant in Vietnam. There the men under his command committed a murderous atrocity -- and together swore never to tell the world what they had done. Now the press, army justice, and the events he tried to forget have caught up with Ben Tyson.

    "Riviting story! Emotionally packed!"

I have listened to most of Mr. DeMille's books and found this one right up there with his best. I found it hard to stop listening and had tears in my eyes at the end. As usual, Scott Brick did an excellent job. The author did a great job with his prepartation and detail of the workings of a Courts Martial. Bravo to DeMille!

In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

    "Amazing Story"
    Overall

Ken Follett draws his readers into this amazine story of intrigue, war, history, romance and mystery as no author has done before. His research lends to one thinking that this could be a non-fictional story. And, John Lee is the best story teller. His dramtic reading allowed me to become part of the book. There were many times when I would arrive at my destination in my car and sit there listening to the story for sometimes 15 minutes more. It was so hard to leave the story and even harder to finish. I kept on thinking, what could I possibly listen to that could even be as good as this? Thank you Mr. Follett. Please do another soon!

Why we think it’s a great listen: Got 40 hours to kill? You’ll find the time when you start listening to Lee’s take on Follett’s epic – and widely celebrated – novel of 12th-century England. The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known...of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect - a man divided in his soul...and of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame....

I am 62 years old and have never listened to a more interesting, suspenseful, romantic novel in my life. The whole time I was listening I became part of the story. It was told so well that I was able to imagine myself as one of the characters. I thought nothing can compare to this until I listened to his sequel.
