"Libertarian in the White House? Almost"
One thing emerges as quite fascinating when listening to this book. Reagan truly did have a philosophy that he questioned, reasoned, and honed during these radio years. By the time he got to the White House--he already knew what he believed.
I was more intrigued by the selections that featured his political and philosophical reasoning. There are an awful lot of touchy / feely segments included in this set. They are fine, but the political reasoning he has is more interesting and unusual.
"Great for the true comic book fan"
I found this book enjoyable, but. . .
I think a comic book collector should and would cling to most of this book. It sort of got a little dry in the middle with historical information that I started to just want to work through.
Having said that, I really liked the book overall. I am a fan of Mad Magazine, and I particularly enjoyed reading about its history in this book. This book also does remind us that censorship has been around a long time--and will continue for a long time to come. I particularly love how we use blame and censorship to absolve us of blame for the behavior of our children. G(g)od forbid we should blame genes and poor parenting.
Enjoy this book and fast forward when it gets too dry. Many moments are quite entertaining.
"Entertaining Fictional / Nonfictional Amalgam"
This was quite enjoyable. As you listen to the book you get the distinct impression that most of the characters are actually fictionalized versions of real people.
But it is a great read about the wild world of gut check investing and alot more entertaining than some other similar books I have listened to.
"As Unbiased as it gets"
I found this book compelling, informative, and about as unbiased as you can get--given the subject matter. It is always easy to look back in history and point to errors made. It is more difficult to look at those errors and examine how they were made with or without the apparent knowledge of their consequences. He does a pretty good job of examining that and I enjoyed the ride.
"Entertaining--but not life changing"
This is an excellent book to just listen too. Even though it includes the story of Benjamin Graham--I don't believe this book carries the sorts of investment insights that might change the way you invest.
But there are some interesting stories, and it is fun to listen to.
